Hi guys
I am having some problems with my 1998 WRX and I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me out.
I believe the problem is turbo related. Before the problem arose, when I drove my WRX, when I accelerated and the turbo spooled up & kick in, you would get a sharp increase in acceleration typical of an turbocharged car.
However since yesterday after work, I notice that when I accelerated and the turbo spooled up and kicked in, there is no longer any sharp acceleration like that of before. I get positive boost level readings on my boost gauge and I can hear the turbo spooling up, but the acceleration feels like a normal car without a turbo at all.
I have checked my pipes and hoses in my car and there are no leaking, cracked or split pipes or hoses. I thought it could be a problem with the manual boost controller so I removed it and changed the car back to stock. The problem with the car was still there, so I don’t think its to do with the manual boost controller.
From what I’ve observed so far, what do you guys believe the problem could be?
What else could i do to find out what the problem is? i don't wanna take my car into the shop just yet.
