0-100 in 3.2 secs as standard motor!! - hyabusa in 1 of the zoom mags making 260 rwkws with a gt30 or so strapped to it - imagine that in 4-500 kg car on slicks
V8ENZ
22-02-2007, 09:06 PM
the ford 2 liter should still be good for mid 4's to 100, andra kick soft tops out at 12.99 without full cage hehe

Zetec is a fairly decent engine depending on what year it is
Im surprised its running live axle and leafs - is this common in Westfield type cars? Maybe the extra weight in the back is actually a good thing?
V8ENZ
22-02-2007, 11:45 PM
05 zetec
live axle is about 20kg lighter than independent and more fun.
like my homemade struts? shocks arent here yet
Can't wait to see this thing @ teh TS....
Very nice Nik..
I'm a BIG fan of Clubmans, always have been.
Zetec is a fantastic motor, its the new standard for Clubmans...cheap, strong and more than enough power for a feather weight Clubman.
Ultimate would be a Cosworth Zetec engine....300HP NA, 9500rpm....game over ;)

Finished the brakes off today and almost got all the body wiring down, due to supplier issues, I "might" get the engine/gearbox this week.

Looks like a fun car to build, not too complicated and simplicity always is the key to success.
Good buy, shall be a competitive car.

ive seen quite a few westfeild style kits which are pretty average its good to see the level of quality in yours man.
looks like some very nice gear there.
probably never corner like the merc though...
V8ENZ
23-04-2007, 06:35 PM
cheers man
yeah i'm going to miss that floating feeling around corners haha
if you have alook in sunday times auto liftout, theres an artical about the exact same kit as mine.
cactus
23-04-2007, 06:43 PM
looks sick Nick =D
any particular reason for going with this kit? over westfeild ect? pros and cons?
V8ENZ
24-04-2007, 04:22 PM
this kit was all new parts bar the engine/box.
westies run recond. diff, calipers, uprights, steering box ect
they also need extra barwork welded in to achieve minimium stiffness requirements for adr.
few people that have driven westies mentoned to me that they suffer bump steer.
my car (Birkin) is 1 of 2 companys (other is Caterham) that legaly can make an exact replica of the original 7, the car I'm building is to the same dimensions as colin chapman built the lotuses to, therefore increasing resale value.
oh ok cool cheers for the info

Bit of an overdue update.
A solution was found for the diff smashing
it came in the for of a
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/sniperx8/P1020187.jpg
It's run a 14.6 at the drags which i'm not unhappy with.
took it down to ahg couple of weeks ago, found it's got abit of push in it so gonna start playing with tyre pressures and shock settings.
It's been a fragile little girl over the last 5000ks
dropped the alternator
blown a starter motor
cracked a radiator
blown a thermostat gasket
2 diffs
but it's been worth it
put a few vids up of it running
http://www.youtube.com/V8ENZ
Cheers
Nik, i really like what you have achieved and done with the car, however i am surprised at that quarter mile time. Looking at the vids it looks like you would get an easy 13. Ihope you do with the new LSD.
Secondly, with all these broken parts, I hope you're not driving over car park retaining walls like you did with the Cross8 !
V8ENZ
07-03-2008, 08:04 AM
few issues regarding the 1/4 mile time
first gear is a shitter of a ratio which i will change in due course
the cams and ecu are stock and it just runs out of puff just over 5k
and the fedrals really didnt stick too good to the track
all simple things and it should be able to crack the 13's i would think.
