Just seeing if anyone knows if there is advantage/disadvantage on the way your intercooler is mounted.

ie with the inlet/outlet on the top or the inlet/outlets at the bottom ( the way most peoples are).

i ask this just because the mounting of new cooler would be convenient if it was with inlet/outlet at the top.

picture is of another car with inlet/outlet at the top..

the advantage of this is less piping so therefore less lag - i think its cooler this way.

The only reason people put the inlet/outlet at the top, is as Brendan said, to reduce the length of the intercooler piping.

It doesnt actually make any difference to the efficiency or operation of the core.

most kits are the other way to clear rad, air con, horns, etc. Its also usually easier to cut through the inner guard to route the pipework than cutting through the radiator support which is usually the case when core is put in outlets up.

yeh but on my cressida its mounted with the outlets at the base but the pipes go thru at the top anyway, still got everything there a/c, tranny cooler, horns.

so really having the outlets at the top would be better, purely because of the minimal piping..
