i was just curious to see what clutches everyone uses ive had a bit of experience at moderate power levels and ive come to the conclusion that button clutches arnt worth the time effort or money i killed one in a month of driving with a 340hp at the wheels car but in a different car with the same hp i had a organic clutch last well over a year - surely other ppl have had different experiences or have different opinions so just a general run down would give us a good idea
- how much power - 340hp rwd
- what sort of clutch - HD full face organic/5 puck
- how hard are you on it hard/medium/soft - hard
- whats your pick - full face>5 puck
Was it an Extreme clutch that you killed?

I had a xtreme 4 puck ceramic in my GTS4, lasted the whole time I had the car with 310rwhp, no slip at all despite being daily driven and 7k launches. Now have an Exedy twin plate in the FD.

Running an excedy ceramic button in a R33 390rwhp haven't had a drama yet? But I am waiting for it!

im looking at buying a jza70. found one that has round 300 rwhp through a R154. still has standard clutch. want to know what the standard is capable and if it needs upgrading what best option is.

JZA70 - Exedy 5 Puck sprung centre with a TRD Pressure plate.
the clutch will bite if the pedal is out, no doubt, no questions, it just does.
5000k's on it now, never, ever had it slip under power.
240rwhp, its a bugger to drive.

i had a brand new 9 puk extreme in the gtr and it fried in about 1 week. Had a nice pedal and drove well, but it obviously couldnt handle it.
Put a OS twin TS2BD and that fried in about 1 month
Bought a OS twin TS2CD (the model up) but didnt get to put it in before selling the car, i think that would have solved my clutch dramas!

If you go OS Twin get there are two models, one is rated to about 500hp, the other 800hp.
I think I've got the 500hp one in mine, and it doesn't like big launches.
My Xtreme 5 puck with 2500lb pressure plate has been in for 12 months now. Car is pushing 350hp at the wheels. It's daily driven and still hooks up nice and hard. :)
340hp at all 4, and I'm running a stock 5 yr old factory clutch, thats done 40,000km.

just need to race joe best of 5, chances are the clutch will give up, or gearbox will fall out before the 3rd race :D
happy with my xtreme 9puck, only holding 200rwhp however
