On the topic of being closet PC nerds, who else here plays LFS?

I'm addicted to it...I know Alem and Owain love it too, but anyone else?

What about rFactor and GTR2?? I call them "the big 3", as many people play all 3 (all top noth racing sims), but I stick more to LFS.

Currently cranking a Logitech MOMO wheel, but will be upgrading to G25 asap :)

Favourite combo is Formula XR on Blackwood GP Reverse, and I also enjoy Westhill and Aston National in the GTR spec vehicles.

I've got a new super duper connection now so I look forward to trying it with a bit less lag.
Formula XR on Blackwood or Aston is good. The Redline Racing servers are where I stay mostly. Gets a bit annoying when some people get tunes but don't have the racing skill/manners though.

AS Club is bombed balistc, one of my fav tracks.
Confuzion, ignore the ping and see what the racing is actually like, I have found it never makes much difference.

I like drift and race equally....love the single seaters, especially at AS4. BF1 is ridiculously fast, and jumping back in the FO8 and FOX makes them feel like slugs :D

Alem, thanks for your XRT drift set bro...its so good!! It transfers weight beautifully unlike my set, which was a bit loose.

I got my original set from a Saiko-D Team driver one night when I was drifting on SO circuit, he was nice enough to send it to me!! It helped a lot, but still needed tweaking to suit my style.

Your set is heaps better than mine! More settled, holds 3rd and 4th gear slides a lot better, starts sliding before the corner a lot better, and it transitions a helluva lot better!!

ive been havin heaps of fun on Aston Cadet
its a real short tight track, almost like an autokhana. A race between all the open wheelers and GTR vehicles makes for some fun racing!

been playing the demo version on the net the past couple of days, you really need the proper version, that way you dont get stuck with 12yr old dickheads who sit in the pits doing skids, which in turn makes the game laggy as hell.

good fun to be had trying to twin drift with another person somewhere else in the world :)

who else is keen to play online ? id be up for races against some of the antilag people.

well to host a server on your pc. you need 16kb of downstream constant... so i dunno how much it would be for a user.

i doubt it would be much mind you, nothing worse than sitting on MSN/IRC etc

Played a fair bit on Redline 2 last night (FOX at AS Club). Got down to a 1.01:55 now. It sucks how you get a few tossers online though, guys who park in the chicane to crash people or brake in front of you while racing. Then there's n00bs who don't brake in T1 and cause big smash ups.

but yeah, if you guys are keen, the AE86DC server usually has 45pings, thats where i play...

if you've got the full version you might have to click back to demo in the multiplayer screen.

How do you drift that RWD thing they give you in the demo? The Porsche-y thing in the full version is a lot easier, a bunch more power.

the xrt is easy to drift, but the FG5 (i think ) is just bulk low down grunt, can just get into 4th and slide most of a track without lifting...such a boat.

best fun in full version is the fwd turbo car, coming into big sweepers at the top of 5th gear - approx 220 and doing big lift offs hahah

has anyone got a good track setup for the XRT thingy?? i just get major understeer into the corners, then i power oversteer into a spin too easy.

I just suck at setting up the cars. Any tips on toe in, camber, spring rates etc etc

i gave my XRT drift setup to fozzy, i dunno how he found it

i use a G25 wheel, duel monitors and such and im used to it, takes a bit of throttle blipping to get the tail sliding out nicely... but practice makes perfect :)

Patch Z is out, cars seem a lot easier to drive, gettin 30fps more than before on same settings which is good.

nah i used to have bulk setups but when they changed version they all got deleted (a while ago).. dont play it anymore so no setups meh :/

Yeah gets annoying when you aren't responsible for a crash and get kicked, especially as you tend to get banned from the server for a couple of days.
I had one where I was on the inside of a long sweeper, so grass on right hand side, another racer on the left, he's moving over more and more I'm trying to avoid the crash, put a wheel on the grass and spin out and knock him out. He claims it's my fault and I got the ban...fuckin pingpingpingpings

I learned to drift on LFS with my Logitech wheel.
Then started doing silly stuff in the evo at AHG and could not believe how realistic the physics on LFS were - the car and steering responded exactly to throttle and brake as LFS did. Excellent physics and excellent force feedback.

If people are keen, ill look into setting up a server, can have a wednesday night LFS league for antilag perhaps ?

(LFS doesnt have the black screen / lag issues like GT5 does) :D
