LOL .....

If you look under the bonnet of the PEER cars that have KKR stickers all over them you will find garret turbos.

The twin turbo R34 drift car that was here, actually ran them. Blew 4 of them over a weekend.

You get what you pay for as a rule.

Enough said ??

Not bad for the money....they are definitely no HKS turbo, but they are better than glued together turbos you get from eBay :D

PM me if you want one, I can get these :)

They are used in a few of the turbo kits for LS motors. If you are really keen to find out, ask some of those guys? I know MCE Motorsport have built a few LS motors with them (including their VE GTS & a 402ci VZ SS ute.

Don't know how they actually go or if they are reliable.

Sorry I can't help much more.

they're cheap, and from some of the dyno results ive seen, seem to make ok power.
I really wouldnt expect them to have the reliability of a garrett unit. I'd pay the extra.

used a direct 'bolt-on' onto a mates 33, wasn't direct, needed to machine a few things, so make sure you do everything, but i'd spend the extra and go with HKS

Hi Performance Imports seem to rate them.

Hi Performance Imports seem to rate them.

yeah, because Donnon owns the company that imports and sells them.
Uses them in his TT kits (the one in the r34 drift car mentioned above) too, and pushes them on hot4s/HPI/every other magazine.

cha-ching!

3540 ftw !

It doesn't matter how hard you drive. I wouldnt recomend KKR for a lawn mower.

Its ebay so its risky but still bettter then china.

XR6 turbo is orse value when you think about the fact a gt3540 is $1900 and an external gate to suit is another $700. Just need a big cube engine to suit the 1.06 rear housing they have. They also make between 500 - 550+ rwhp on the old ford xr6 turbo motor.

I been running a KKR 480 for about 5-6 months now in my R33 and have had no problems with it at all.

They are a laggy turbo, comes on boost pretty hard and stays on boost till i hit my red line no prob`s.

I guess its a hit or run experience for some

no real reason to go these cheap turbo's when quality ones aren't that much more expensive
with the strong aussie dollar atm trust and hks turbo's are cheap as on nengun
go with a proven product

Matty,

I import these turbos direct and have sold a few of them. So far, so good...

When I was researching through the 1 million and 1 Chinese manufacturers, I found these turbos being made in quite a few factories, but with different levels of quality employed.

The KKR name is a generic name given to these style of turbos. I try my best to make sure I only import the better quality ones by only using manufacturers with an ISO9001-2000 and/or ISO TS16949 quality certifications.

I have a couple of customers in the east using these turbos without any issues (except one with a dodgey wastegate actuator that wouldn't close... which I replaced at no cost to the customer with a genuine garrett actuator)

I also use these turbos in my basic turbo kits, however, as a Garrett dealer, I also offer the same kits using genuine Garrett turbos.

/shameless plug :P

Ouch!!!!

Nice spot Mr Mayhem... Further proof of the destructive forces to turbos that the BEE-R limiters create.

When Ben first installed that turbo (almost 2 years ago now) he used one of the first generation KKR turbo's which didn't have water cooling. All of the new generation turbo's are now using both water and oil cooling.

As stated to everyone that buys the KKR turbos from me, they are a cheap alternative to top quality Garrett items. They will work and make great boost, but at the end of the day, THEY AIN"T GARRETT!

have you ever seen any other turbo shit if from bee-r limiter?!?

ive heard people say they have engine problems but never turbo

Volatile Rob

Cerbera,

Yes I have... I've seen exhaust turbines completely shatter and early/uneven wear of the bearings.

Worst part is when the exhaust turbine falls apart, it can throw bits back into the motor. Another problem it causes is the compressor side is then unbalanced from the front (depending of bearing type...) and then slams against the housing and shears off fins which can then get stuck in your cooler.

butters, abit of topic bud, but you reckon the ford turbo is to big for a rb30 looking to make power?

she was real laggy wasnt it?

every second muzza on calaisturbo has a 35/40 on their vl,whats the go?same same arent they?

zeroyon
02-11-2007, 08:03 AM
The ford turbo is a 1.06(or there abouts ?) rear on a 2.6 litre, course its going to be laggy.

On an rb30 it will be much less laggy. They make big power so lag comes with that.

Sure a gt35 with an 82 rear will be better all round on an rb30 and next step would be a T04Z. But your looking at $1500 for second hand turbo and another $500 ++ for an external gate.

So if your on a budget you can't look past the ford turbo as an option specially around $1200 s/h with gate.

Just need to sort out the boost control on the xr6 turbo and it would be ok. Lag on the 26 was bearable so would be ok on a 30.

If anyone wants to fit one to a 26 I have a nice high mount mani to suit :p
