3 are terrible mate. I have a phone that i have finished on there contract. Lg piece of shit. Do you need it or you just wanting a new \ upgrade ?
Wanting a new phone. HTC TyTN II can be had outright from eBay, etc, but no-one local seems to sell it except for Three.
It just came out and it basically has Wireless Internet, GPS, 3mp camera, touch screen, 3g support, Windows Mobile 6, Office suite, etc etc...it'll work on my Telstra 3g plan but Telstra don't sell it.

Yeah that is a sweet phone! Love the slide & flip function of the screen/keyboard too!
Adrenalin, it's not three that is sh|t, it's LG that is sh|t. Simple. My first phone with three was an LG a few years ago, yeah biggest POS ever. Get a Nokia or SE or any other proper brand phone and it'll be sweet.

Hmm should be able to buy it from whoever and get the phone unlocked and then it should be useable with telstra
If your out that way Joe, go see Greer @ Carosuel, tell her I sent you.

Wait till you have to deal with 3 customer service. Youll see why people hate it.

There reception is shit. THe lg phone itself was crap and yes customer service is a joke.
Since going on vodaphone have not had a single problem with phone or network provider
Cant blame the phone on 3 but, its not like they pre-break them.

I have been with three for the last four years.
NEVER had a problem with reception throughout Perth. Country areas it roams to Telstra, so no problems there either. LG phone I had was farking up, and it was LG's fault. Since then I have had Nokia phones on 3, and my gf had Sony Ericsson phones. No coverage problems whatsoever.
Customer service, yeah it is sh|t I know, like all Indian call centres if that's what you referring to. Other than that, with everything I had to deal with over the years, never had a problem getting things done through them. Can't really say I hate the customer service, they are generally nice to you. I just hate the concept of having all those jobs go to india, but that's how it is with most other companies nowadays anyway.
And cost wise, they are by far the cheapest out there, at least for my needs (voice/data/subscriptions etc.).

I had problems where i would want to call and it would do the " beep beep beep your call could not be connected"
Would do it like 2 - 3 times in a row before being connected.
Also calls would just end or i couldnt call peoples phone as it would go straight to there phone bank even though there phones were on. I had my lg phone as did dad and rest of his company all replaced twice because they kept screwing up.
Im on hte the vodaphone 49 cap and get 310 bucks of calls and all that which is massive.I think its 310 :S

Again, LG's fault mate. Not Three. Exactly same thing was happening with my LG phone (gf had LG also at the time) believe it or not.
I'm on $49 cap, with $300 worth of calls, plus 200 minutes of free calls to all three phones on top of that, which I use heaps of!

three network was poorly designed from day one
its getting better and when roaming on telstra should be faultless.
you should be able to go into a 3 shop and buy the handset outright all other networks do it its so should 3, they might not because they regard themselves as a true 3g network where in essence they are not.
That handset is very cool functionality wise, wonder if it will be successful htc is a big taiwainesey electronics company nobody really knows of them here. will watch that space avidly

How was it designed poorly? Whenever it roams to Telstra, it gets no 3G coverage, just normal coverage. Given that I very very rarely see it roam to Telstra in the first place and have 3G on all the time, I'd say the coverage is very good... And they were the first 3G network here, so how are they not a true 3G network?

I go up in the hills with my 3 phone and it says I have no reception :(
But IS 200 BOY goes to Antartica while chopping Lotus's and he has 7 bars of reception!!!11!!!
You lie, dont mock the network he is on!!

if you live in the hills you dont need reception ... just pass the message on to you aunty or sister whilst your fucking them.

Fark, too much emo'ness here, it seems...
You don't like it, don't buy it. I don't give a sh|t if you use Telstra or Indian smoke signals... Just giving my own example with my own experiences. I thought three was sh|thouse too until I dumped the LG phone.
Oh, and for someone that apparently knows everything automotive, you should be able to tell a difference between a 1G-FE and a 2JZ-GE :slap:
LOL geez, I only asked about a phone :D

I got my HTC TYTN II yesterday. Very nice! If you want to make the switch to three and your not a wanker, send me a PM and I'll hook you up with my consultant.
Well Joes out in that case!
Been on 3 for 3 years (HA!!!) no issues at all thus far. I bought a HTC 836 dopod, works fine, is a great pda/phone. Phone aspect could be a little better interface wise but i have no major gripes. Slide out keyboard is fantastic. Network has been fine for me. Waiting to see if the iphone will support the 3g network for the next upgrade.

No movie playback, no camera, no gps, no stylus, no keyboard.
Its a large screen that is easy to use, great for showing off photos, but remember... it has no camera! Good for grandparents and 8 year olds alike.
Hmm I've been told that if I get a phone outright from 3, it has to be unlocked at a fairly hefty fee, to work on another 3g network....true, or crap?
Might just be worth gettin the TyTN II from eBay or something similar, if thats the case.
Kirbo, do you work in the CBD? Might have to meet up with you one day to take a quick peek at your phone :D

Yeah no camera is a huge downside for sure, especially that 99% of phones have it. It does play video clips though, I;ve seen it for myself.
GPS on the other hand, not many phones have that still, only a ahndful so not really a standard as such. Plus some people (such as myself) have satnav factory installed in their car and wouldn't care.
Stylus won't even work on the iPhone, you can only control it with your fingers. Not that hard from what I tried, quite easy. To be honest it is a good idea, because you can chuck it in your pocket, and you will know that nothing will press on the screen and operate a function or whatnot unless you touch it physically with your hands. The virtual keyboard takes a bit of getting used to though...
But no, the way it is, I wouldn't buy one mainly coz no camera, and no 3G :(

Correct; an outright purchase from three to then unlock it carries a hefty fee. The repercussion of outsourcing one; you'll be lacking support and warranty. Making it a pointless purchase. If you’re looking for an upgrade, I’d go with three or think of another phone for other phone providers. Don’t know what the future holds. They all might get on the HTC TyTN II train.
Are you karting tonight? I'll be there if you want to have a play with the TyTN.

Might want to look into video playback; its very limited. We've just clarified who its good for. :P
Going with 3 isn't an option for me, as my work pays for my phone, and its with Telstra...I don't have a choice :)
I'm not karting tonight, but I'll have to catch up with you another time for a quick look...maybe next cruise?

what the hell are you on about? i have had my iphone for more than 2 months.
No movie playback? are you nuts? anything you can put into itunes goes onto the phone. Get a video converter, and you can put whatever you want on it, currently i have jurrasic park, a pile of naruto, the new transormers movie and a pile of porn...
No camera??? ummmm thats interesting i must have some limited edition one because it has a 2mp camera and i have taken heaps of shots...oH snap there is no limited edition!! Yeh its only 2mp, but who gives a toss, if i wanna take a good photo i will get my camera...
No gps, but it does have google maps/earth built in..
No stylus because you dont freakin need one, it does have a keyboard on screen so i dont know what you ar on about there. My last phone had a stylus and i can type faster on the iphone than i can write by hand, its ridiculously user freindly :)

Chill bill. Have a shower, you seem to have sand in your vagina. Sorry if I was wrong about a few things. Didnt realise there was another version. Obviously newer.
Balistc I converted the company to three. Soo much cheaper.
No probs, cya on a cruise. You know my car.

there is only one version of the iphone released, and it comes in either 4 or 8gb versions, thats the only difference.
bought mine unlocked, put in my telstra sim card on my ridiculously cheap telstra business plan, and works perfectly. You are right tho about lack of support and warranty, until its released here...but i dont give a toss, only cost me $650 and have never had a problem withany previous phones so i thought i would chance it.
again with the video, and sure a few minutes of viewing hardcore porn will change your mind. :werd:
This phone is the best i have ever had, and for a gadget freak like me, its gotta be the best money i have ever spent on an entertainment gadget and phone combined.
/rant about people saying shit when they dont know what they are talking about. If i dont know, i keep my mouth shut.

Ah so it does have a camera then, my memory is real bad :)
So only thing going against it (in my books) is lack of 3G then :( Otherwise it is an awesome phone. Hey, have you tried that GTech-like software on it yet Nik?

Thanks for the update mate. Just like people want to play with my new mobile, i'd like to actually toy around with your iphone. (As you said, know the product) Sounds like your getting the most out of it, being a techfene. :)

nah havent loaded it yet :P
lack of 3g is kinda gay for mobile internet, but wifi was supposed to make up for it...and it does if you are in range of someones free wifi or have it at home etc....but not if you are just driving along. Plus its still crazy expensive here to use so i dont use it much, i normally wait till i am hooked into wifi to download anything :)
Oh and definately not knocking the HTC you just got, never played with one but the specs and reviews i have seen it must be sweet...

Hmm so I found the TyTN II on a Perth-based online store, outright and unlocked, for $999.95 plus shipping (they dont do pick up).
THEN, I found out my work will salary sacrifice if a receipt is provided, so it only ends up costing me $729
Bonus :)

Yeah, phones (if used for work) are FBT exempt. It will cost you even less, they will claim full GST on it first, so you will only salary sacrifice 900 bucks, less tax and so on, it will cost you just over 600 bucks! I just thought I'd let you know you're actually saving more

I'm considering getting the HTC TyTN II this week sometime.
To those that have got it, has it been good? Any problems, issues, annoying bugs etc? Cheers!
I ended up picking up an I-Mate JAMin that was lying around at work, so far so good.

Mines going well. Had to cold reboot it (battery in&out) three times since owning it. I do hammer it hardcore so its expected. Havnt updated it since purchase. So I assume if I did that it'd be trouble free.

Does that mean you can organise it for them to sell it for less than normal? I'm keeping my old $49 cap, but I also have to pay extra 32 bucks on top for the phone (that's after deducting the loyalty bonus too). Let me know if you know a way to make it cheaper. Cheers!

get ready for the freeze epidemic joe. I have 2 sitting in my draw at work suffering from the same illness. Make sure you back it up every day (if you are using the windows side of it)
Because when they freeze you have to reset the whole phone, which wipes everything on it.

Too late Nik. Just went off and got it haha.
Besides, I need fast (and cheap) data access, that's the biggest downside of the iPhone unfortunately :(
