hey i was just wondering, ive herd a few rumorers that when u sell you car, if u got custom plates, u need to fill out another form, is that true?

nope. b4 u sell the car go into the dpi with the personal ones and tell em ur selling the car would like to keep them, they will make u pay a feee for storage and to get normal plates, they will take urs and put them in storage and u take the normal plates to put on ur car, they will give u a recipt to show the plate change also, ive done it a few times now

i dont wanna keep the plates though, i wanna sell them with the car...

Then it doesnt matter. Fillout the transfer paper as normal. Where is asks for the license plate number, just put whatever it is.

Im selling my car with the private plates, and DPI has given me a transfer paper and a transfer form for the rights to display private plates......

not exactly how it works, if you sell the car with personal plates, they actually still belong to you as you hold the naming rights, remember the little bit of paper you got with the personal plates telling you the name is yours?..
to swap them properly, the new owner would need to pay the cost of the plate again...
but if you don't care there is no issue
double but, if you want the plates back, your actually entitled to ask the DPI to get them back for you
I did this with my plates, you need an extra form as TunedWRX said which transfers the right to display the plates to the next owner, its not hard.
I did this too, all you have to do is fill out a small slip that says you are transfering the plates to the new owner and put down how much you are selling them for, since you have to pay stamp duty on the cost of the plates. I told the guy at the department that I didn't pay anything for them as they came with the car, he said I still had to put a $ figure in there so they can charge me stamp duty for the transfer so I put down $1 and he said that was fine.
