Hi all
Has anyone got any footage of either myself in the White Integra or the lovely TRD hilux that the girls ended up using after destroying a clutch in there EVO 9??
Cheers
EthanIs that why Hilux was there. I couldn't figure out, why on earth someone would enter it :D
track day, normal day
same same
you let your mate have a drive and he bins it, i would expect him to cover it.
i don't see why this would change just because it a track day.

Yeah, the clutch in the Evo let go on the girls while doing Collie sprints on the friday afternoon, and I didnt have a spare one to change friday night, so it seemed a waste to not let them out there in something. It certainly got peoples attention thats for sure.
HAHA , sure was entertaining to watch, when i spoke to one of the girls , said it was scary round wannerz, and LOL to you in the integra over taking Lukian in the Exige at Collie ;)

They paid their money, so they can still race what ever they can find lol
Advantage to the hilux would be instead of going around the cones, just go over them....only counts as a penalty if you touch them :)

i think fanta summed it up well when his said this awhile ago.
At the hands of the co-driver;
a) something mechanical breaks - owners problem
b) car crashed due to a mechanical problem/fault/break-down - owners problem
c) car crashs due to driver pushing too hard - co-drivers problem.
And if i was to ever drive someone elses car i would make sure that i could afford to fix it if anything would ever happen before i drove the car.
** note - i am talking about co-drivers in general not this incident.
but did that fauylt happen because the co-driver was pushing the car too hard?
its a grey area, and even if they arent legally obliged to fix the damage they'd caused, im sure the majority of the car scene would frown apon whoever did it and they'd be given a bad name, people generally wouldnt wanna help em etc.
at the end of the day, it IS just a car, and it'll get sorted out, metal is metal, glad there were no casualties :)

And was it you that drove over the water grate before the left hand sweeper or was it the other driver? :D
Just a heads up,
Official photos are being uploaded now..

up to car 41 as I type this...
Jmax will be suitably impressed Jason :)
Ummm, Not sure who that is, (or many of the others on here) but as long as they are happy... that's all that matters..
Besides the Hyatt Regency hotel being absolute cocks, (staff barging in the room, rudeness etc) along with QANTAS stuffing up our return flight (if I wanted the red eye flight and to stay up for about 40 hrs straight, I would have F$%@ing booked that flight you turds) it was a great weekend..
BTW, None of the damage pics from the cars are online - they will be given to the respective owners when the CD's are sent out, I just prefer not to show the damaged pics online...
You should know him well..
Think back to last year, youll work it out.
Top pics :)
Ahh yes,
The bloke who whinged to me about the photos last year...
Meh, didn't even see him there - what a pity, I was really looking forward to asking him to teach me all he knows on the subject of perfect photos on a shoe string budget.
BTW, I was really dissapointed that I didn't get to meet you and you didn't come out to the dinners though TJ, I had you all signed up...
I didn't see Travis or Brodie either - both of those guys had media accreditation and never showed.. Why bother applying if they are not coming... The only bloke that did come and see me for his pass was Phil from High Octane.. Nice bloke.. I didn't see him at the dinners though..
Hehe I had an excuse, and yes Phil is a champ.

I was there the the big 300 2.8 lol didnt shoot much though, too much  the night before.
Yeah, no probs TJ, you at least called me to explain..
At Barbagallo I was just near the flaggie point at tower 3 (as Spektor mentioned) - refer pic, taken from race control

This must be you Spektor...

I shot the first Driver and Co-driver runs from there and then moved around to tower 2 - managed to get about 5 or 6 cars thru there before the GT-R went off on the top of the hill (sorry, not sure of the corner names or numbers etc). I went to assist in the recovery of that out of the sand trap as they needed a 4WD to drag it out. I then went to the hill climb and motorkhanas and shot the cars thru there..
There are about 1,000 more photos to upload - all the geeral and presentation images and the like...

Thanks for the photo's MSF, are we allowed to post them up on our own websites etc ?
Yeah, go for it..
The driver of each car gets a copy of all their images sent to them in Hi-res along with the DVD of the event also.

The Integra is running full Proflex suspension but with Whiteline swaybars currently, we are slowly getting the most out of the suspension
Yes that would have been me, I was trying fairly hard at that last run around, and especially as we dont have either the top speed or the power to match it with anyone around there I just had to go for it. Its really hard to concentrate when down the back straight im on the 9000 rpm limiter in 5th and holding it for half the straight.
Thanks to all those that made it an enjoyable weekend, I know I had fun, as did my partner who was in the Hilux, we would like to make it to the Sudney round but lack of funds at the moment are making it a little hard.

Hey MSF,
Cheers for the photos. You've done an awesome job!
Rob
Cheers,
glad you like them,
I'll be puting some some selected hires ones up in the next day or four also - just have to finish off all the media obligations for images etc..
Time to post up some stupid/drunken ones.
Odds are very very high they involve antilag members!
Well, all the General and Presentation images are on-line now...
you have more of an idea who they are.... go for it - LOL

I was the 3-2-1-go guy for that event (Collie autotest1) and the backfire as it hit limiter about 5m away almost knocked me over... partial deafness!

Theres already pics of ours all banged up online, so go nuts, car 39, i don't care, so go for it!
Thanks, but I'd prefer not to host them via the official site.
Motorsport insurance, CAMS permits and all the other stuff that event organisers have to deal with is hard enough to get approved as it is, if these events are showing carnage and accidents etc, it will only make it harder long term...

Came out of CRED corner, then because of the wet track the back kicked as he went right to go over the hill... pretty hard to wrestle it back with the way the track was today...
Few other drivers were commenting they had the same taily rear ends out of CRED...
Not sure if that's 100% correct how it happened...
I know this is a long buried subject.... but i have the right of reply i think...
ok... so here's what actually happened... for those that like to talk and for those that dont already know...
and if i offend anyone... oh well... when you drive someone else's car... esp in race conditions and more so when we instruct at no limit's or anywhere else for that matter we drive between 5/10 and 8/10's of what the car is capable of... so no i didn't crash it because i was driving too hard. And YES i am paying for all the repairs... i actually sold my own racecar to do it too. These are the risk's you take when you drive someone else's car. Gav and i had spoken about it long before dutton about what would happen 'just in case' its a simple answer and it has been said in this thread already. If your driving and you crash it... you pay for it... no question really... that ones a given. if the car breaks and its unavoidable then really how can you blame the driver? could happen to anyone. everyone is right.. there is alot of grey area with stuff like this. but it comes down to mutual respect and an agreement between Driver and Co-Driver.
i was going very easy given the track conditions and the fact it was like driving on a swimming pool in some places. I have been driving and instructing at wanneroo for about 6 years now... i have done over 7000 laps and know the track i would say pretty well. i had also done well over 100 laps just gav's car. so i would say i knew the car pretty well too.
as i exited the left hander "c-red" there is a large area of water that crosses the track at the exit and pretty much at your apex point of that corner. you generally try to pass that water with little or no steering lock and as little throttle as you can get away with. when i hit the water the car moved and came on boost, by the time i could try and catch the back of the car i was already too far gone to think about anything other than slowing the car down. i came off doing about 140 sideways... full lock right and a foot full of brakes trying to slow it down and praying it wouldnt roll over.
as the car slowed down it straightened up and i thought this isnt too bad i'll just slide a little more and stop. as i did everything to make the car slow down (which if you've ever driven sideways on wet grass you'd understand) the brake pedal went rock hard as the abs kicked in and i slide into the wall. i hit the wall sideways at about 30k's or there abouts. i had a fistfull of right lock still and thats what saved the panel work on the left side.
The simple reality is on a very wet track with very worn r-spec's the car was never going to stop once it was sideways. i had in reality about 5% throttle on when it happened and i am just thankful i walked away from it. cars can always be fixed... your life cant.
so for those that say i would never let an instructor drive my car because something might happen... thats a cop out... you might get hit by a bus crossing the road... but does that mean you dont go outside?

I think it's finally good for you to get your side of the story out for people that haven't spoken to you directly about it.
After thursday night, i can understand how this could have happened. especially in extremely wet conditions
Although my situation wasn't the same. I jumped on the brakes with the wheel turned slightly as i realised we were running the short track... and instantly the car was sideways. in my instance though, it was dry, so i was fortunate enough to only slip one wheel off the track and then keep going.
Nice to finally hear a response from you Jai.
