Hey guys/girls

This long weekend is my rip out the old kitchen and install the new one - weekend.

And ive hit a problem, i need some more power points put in the cabinets for dishwasher/gas cooktop (for the lighter).

Now can any sparky tell me if a power point can be wired from another powerpoint, or does it have to come from a junction box? Ive got cable i can run, but i wont connect anything up till my sparky mate can come over (busy all weekend)

So do i run these cables to the roof, or just to the closest other power point (about 1m away)

Cheers Guys

For a gas cooker you should be fine with just running it off another power point, i think its only eletric cookers that need to come from the junction box.

so far so good. What about a dishwasher?? Guess that would need a junction as i reckon it would need a fair amount of juice??

dishwasher im almost certain would need to come from above, id run it from the junction box just to be safe anyway. not THAT much extra work involved.

ok ill set yas straight here.

junction box= box where cables meet up to link circuits. no power outlet.

power point= point where 2-4 cables can meet up to link a circuit.power outlet.

same/same

dishwasher (depending on load rating) might need a new circuit that would have to be run back to your switch board.
