s15 camshafts

Hey,

Im looking at going cams in my s15 and i have been suggested to go tomei 272's obviously i must replace vavlesprings and get rocker stoppers etc etc
i was just wandering if any1 knows the exact name of the cams weither they are a procam or poncam and were i can get them from?
so yeah ne help would b much appreciated.

for starters tomei dont make a 272 degree cams, thats HKS. tomei do a 270 degree cam and they come under the "PROCAM" range due to the high lift 12.5mm. can get them just about anywhere, nengun, greenline, rhdjapan,ns.com the list goes on.

what turbo are u planning to match up with it?

cheers i have the biggest gt30 u can get im not sure exactly which 1 is it though? Im not sure if u know but how do u know if ur valvesprings have had it???? (does the engine run rough) when i open up the gate it sounds like it flutters and i have been told that the valvesprings cause that to happen??? :S

mate if u dont even know what turbo u have i suggest u do some reasearch b4 u start putting shit your unsure of into you car. ive got poncams, springs and rocker stoppers ready to ditch into my s15 but im hesitant atm cause i dont want my vct to shit itself. i wanna keep the mid range power. go to NS.com and theres alot of posts bout cams u can read :)

not really sure if ur valve springs would cause the wastegate to flutter or not. i think that might be more related to a boost control issue or bad exhaust manifold design? if ur going to put anything over 260 into a sr20 i think every cam manufactor recommends valve springs to be changed to stop the valve float. its also a bit scary you dont know wat turbo u have..? gt30 could be a combination of many things, 3071, 3040 (aka 3082) 3076 etc..

its a 3040 turbo and yeah the wastegate valve is fluttering is the gate stuffed or is it something else causing it to do that????

what sort of exhaust manifold is it mounted on?

custom manifold, the car was running fine for ages and then all of a suden the gate started fluttering????? and when i put it on the dyno for a tune about 3 weeks ago the power line goes up and then at around 6000rpm it drops off nearly at 90 degrees??????

Its your boost controller or the sping is to soft and not holding boost either way something isnt holding the boost

its a tial 44mm with a 1 bar spring

or its how u hooked up the vac hoses to ur wastegate champ. what i did in my setup is put both vacumn lines on for my wastegate(the top one and the middle one). one goes to EBC and the other intake manfoild or intercooler piping on thay side.

since i put a turbosmart bov on (megasonic) replaced hks ssq it no longer flutters and it doesnt drop off at high rpm got me stuffed wat the go is there ne ideas
and yeah wastegate hoses hooked up rite cheers
