Seen a few around but no real explanations as to why.

I know the 2jz has the stronger bottom end of the two and is 3 litres but wouldn't the head flow more on the 2j then the 1j?

What are the advantages of having the 1j head? or disadvantages.

Just looking at options for one of my toranas as the other one is getting a chev in it so i want to go down a different path with the other one and keep it all under the bonnet and "different".

Also weight wise what do they weigh.. torrie weighs low 1100's with a boat anchor 202 so would that increase or decrease much?

I'm well over rb's so won't be going down that path.

Its for people who have a 1JZ with a lot of aftermarket gear like turbos, fuel, manifold, and have blown their bottom end. Change only the bottom so you can keep your goodies.

Have heard other stories like 1JZ is designed by Yamaha and have greater flow capabilities, but if your porting the 2JZ, it doesn't really matter.

Maybe some better Toyo guru's can correct me, otherwise search on soarercentral.com. Topic has been covered a million times.

i think its been proven 2jz still out flow 1jz, but its bees dick either way, never notice the difference.

In japan you could buy brand new 2jz bottom ends from toyota cheaper then rebuilding your blown 1jz. and as stated above you keep all your expensive cams, porting/turbo/manifold/ecu/injectors.

if u dont already have a 1jz that's been fairly well modified, there is no point building a 1.5jz. Just buy a 2jzget from the get go.
