depends wat model yr BA, somwhere late maybe even into the BF they started using F6 typhoon internals, the real early ones used justused wat u would call "regular" internals
okay, just goin off the bog stocker of the bunch.. i think thats the 03 model? with a tune and sum boost wot r they cappable of? i heard the valve springs rnt the best aswell.. im just lookn 4 a work horse with sum grunt
My mate got a generic flash tune on his stock BF XR6t at BPT and got just over 300rwhp, apparently Extreme Ford Tuning get better results with better tuning though. He then got 60lb injectors, bigger intercooler, pump and a 3.5inch exhaust and made 340+rwkw...

Yeah, I'd look at a BF because they have stronger internals.. not saying the stock BA internals are that weak either.
340rwkw is alot more than im lookn at haha, duz that stress the engine 2 much?
They are strong engines mate, my friend thrashes the piss out of his car with 340rwkw but up around that power i think you will need a decent clutch and start to look at some stronger CV's if you plan bulk abuse :P

Save up a bit more if your going to mod it and get a BF, the manual box in the BA's wont last long if your going to mod it.
Saying that the 6 speed auto is an awesome bit of gear but i think that only came out BF onwards.
Good point i totally forgot about that Miggy. The 5speed box is no where near as strong as the 6 speed.
BF is definately the way to go mate.
mines done 70,000km with track days, runs at the drags etc with over 330 rwkw
if you can get a post july 06 bf. they got F6 motors.
ba motors will hold over 300rwkw if tuned well, they just need valve spring upgrading cos there soft as shit.
5 speed manual boxes are also made of glass
hmm the bf is a little out of my budget.. ive seen sum ba's in teens low 20's plan is just a nice tune + zorst with sum decent boost no fmics etc also ill b goin auto

i agree save for the BF if u can, however theres nuthing at all wrong with a early BA, as there pretty dam cheap now can pick them up for low 20's now
You shouldn't have any dramas.. but knowing you have alot of potential under the bonnet, i would put money on it that you wouldn't be able to help yourself to mod it some more :P

a ba auto with a tune and injectors, pump and cat will put out 270rwkw and be pretty reliable.

That would be the ED with the twin lights. I have an EB XR8 on gas the first model. The EA only came in the 3.9litre 6. I like the ED better though! Looked at getting ED front lights but they want a bomb for them!

While its an F6, i think 03xr6t is pushing 15 or 18psi or something. 404rwkw on standard turbo

Depends on who's tuning it. I've tuned a heap of them in the past. I'd be more inclined to run as much fuel, spark and boost together, rather than running as much boost as possible and cutting spark out to eliminate detonation.
I know there are some that will set wastegate duty cycle at 100% (effectively permenantly closing the wastegate) across the rpm range (which causes the turbo to spike around 18-21psi boost), and drop spark in an attempt to eliminate detonation. At the same time they're tuning them at mid/hi 12's AFR's thinking this is safe :squint: We all recall the rumours going around when SCT Advantage was first released that the BA MkI engines were weak and couldn't handle big boost. Bullshit. It was the dumb cvnts tuning them who'd no fucken clue popping motors all over the place.
A mate of mine in Vic runs 10.8's in his BA MkI 4 speed auto making near on 400rwkw on his stock engine ;) He's like me in the sense that he was bullshit to by a local 'reputable' tuner, went out and bought the software himself and did a much better job.
On a stock car I'd run no more than 12-14psi boost, but would get the AFR's in the mid 11's. Running them rich with spark makes good midrange torque, and that's what you want out of these heavy cars. It seems to work for my ute :D

if you look in the next perth street car magazine you will see [4L turbo] xr6 ute 460/450hp atw at 14psi on stock turbo i think he was telling me.
