Dude, it's piece of piss. Just whack in your XP disk in there, reboot, follow the prompts, and it does it all by itself.

there is a bit more to it then this.

Err, no there isn't. I've done XP installs on my comps like at least 20 times over the last 7 or whatever years it's been out now. Maybe need to check in BIOS whether it boots from the CD first though, other than that, it's a 'whack in the CD, and follow the prompts' process...

Not quite mate .... I've had some nightmare reinstalls trying to find correct vendor specific drivers for certain hardware, making sure all the apps are installed, make sure its all tweaked to run faster, install decent security products .etc

Bit more to it then "whack ya XP cd in"

Ah fair enough, I always had all my drivers on me so never had an issue...

agree with ryan, ive done the same, whack the xp cd in, bios to boot from cd, then follow the intructions, it will give an option to reformat or install windows, reformat 1st then install windows... make sure u have all the installation cds with u for programmes as well as CD keys , dont wnana get stuck halfway

LOL having a cry about drivers... Are you all still trying to work out how innernets work, or do people just not use google? Drivers take 2 seconds to find.

Just boot from the windows CD and follow the instructions man :)

Can't get on the internet to get drivers if you're running wireless and XP doesn't pick it up. Then you need to run cat5 and change settings .etc Which I'd say he probably can't do if he's asking someone to format his PC for him.

So .... fail.

yep, number of support calls we get each week with people that "just put the disk in" baffles me.
Even ones with imaged install restore disks still manage to fuck up.
