Hey guys I have a 87 4runner and its got the shakes whenever you take it over 3000rpm under load.. I disconnected the tailshaft just then and took it for a wrap around the block, it was smooth as silk which makes me believe it's a problem with the tailshaft/uni's...

Now the unijoints had been replaced like a year ago and it still had a small vibration even after that..

I think the next course of action would be to get the tailshaft balanced?? Does anyone know where I can get this done? And roughly how much?
Or any other suggestions with what I should do?

Thanks :)

Cheers, they seem to be aligned up ok.
Apart from VEEM do you know of any other places that do balancing??

Were all the unis done or just the rear shaft
Does it have much play in the centre bearing have you checked it?
Did you disconnect the front shaft and drive it or the rear shaft and drive it with the front diff?

Dont think I have a centre bearing mate?? its a 1 peice shaft... The rear shaft had both uni's replaced, my mate had a look and reckons the front uni is fucked on the tailshaft. So gonna get that replaced and the shaft balanced and go from there.

Yeah I just disconnected the rear shaft and drove it in 4H.

Thanks for the help anyway.
