hey
wanna change gearbox oil becuase its prob never been changed and it crunches 3rd and 4th high RPM. dunno if theres an additive i could use to minimise this-what oil should i use and if additive?
also wats to service front and rear diffs-wats a good oil to run
ALSO if i was to look for another box, do i need another 4wd box or is the transfer cause a seperate part to the actual gearbox? or should i look for a 26 box or rebuild..cheers

I've used the Nulon G70 gearbox additive before, the box never broke, so I guess you can say it works :)
Changes were smoother though.
I recommend VMX80 for gear oil.
LSX90 for diffs

the gts4 uses the same 5 speed as the gtr/rb26 too:)

Can also vouch for that my box is quiet and smoother using VMX80 and G70 additive.

AFAIK the boxes, while interchangeable, are different... Its argued they are are weaker, but they definitely have shorter 1-3 ratios compared to the GTR box.

which are weaker ? the Rb20det box in there now ? wouldnt surprise me its not exactly meant to put up with a Rb26dett. mite just rebiuld the stock box with stronger internals.

Put that nulon additive in my patrol box , prior to it going in it sounded like it was going to explode due to typical cluster rattle but now its so quiet ;)

I'm pretty sure its both, I already knew of the diffs being different, apparently gearbox ratios are listed in workshop manual as being different. I only have the GTR manual, so i can't confirm.
