does anyone know the piston specs in particular their depth as to whether a gtr brembo caliper (33/34) designed for a 22mm thick rotor will be safe to use on a 16mm thick rotor
also if anyone has had experience - what would be a better rotor with these calipers performance wise, a standard 300x22mm (gtr) or a 324x16mm. (standard tt mk4 supra)

32R fronts are 296 x 32mm
33/34R are 323 x 30mm iirc
Can't really drop to much more than 2mm off rotor thickness

sorry - should have stated im talking about rear calipers here

Caliper won't take a larger diameter rotor without an adapter, rears are slighty harder still due to the handbreak

we still not on the same page.
these are nissan brakes going onto a mz20 soarer. so eitherway will require brackets to get made up.
my mk3 supra already runs a set of 32 gtst rear calipers with mk4 supra rotors (324mm) which im assuming these gtr brembos would bolt straight on in place of the gtst calipers
so its either copy the bracket i already got to run these brembos on a 16mm thick 324mm rotor orelse redesign a new brackt to mount them to 300mmx22mm rotor (if possible)
whats the better trade off - the caliper acting on a larger diameter rotor or a thicker rotor?

16mm rotor wouldn't even get touched by a caliper that is supposed to take 22mm
Go the size intended, but you can alter diameter if you make up adaptor to suit

only talking 6mm here - if a 22mm rotor can wear to 20 before its rubbish and brake pads can easily wear 10mm each before they need replacing theres 11mm of piston travel per pot on just factory setup - could they go another 3mm safely??
on side note - if anyone has some pads due for the bin to suit gtr brembo rears - could u please send them my way
The problem you might have is the pad falling out of the slides. Only the pins will hold them in and they arn't made to take the load.

Only way around it is to change pads when they have 3mm more meat than when you would normally change them basically only getting half the life out of your pads depending on thickness when new.

Spot on
I just tried it with NEW rotor and pad 90% worn .. FAIL

anyone tried splittign the calipers and facing off the mating faces?? or knows of who does this kind of work?

Be easier n cheaper to machine " nissan " of a 32 gts-t rear caliper n paint it gold

i will be painting these black to match my front brembos anyway... but yeah -your prob right. will have to suss out if i can get 22mm rotors to suit my application orelse it might not be worth all the hassles

If it is not worth the hassles ill take the rear brembos off ur hands.
