I hope it's the best game ever :) GT3 was probably my favourite.

I stayed up on the night of the Sony press conference when they showed the trailer (about 3-4am ffs) and it doesn't really show much....the game is going to be huge, I'm pretty sure they could've showed more but oh well.

GT5 is for sure the nicest looking game on PS3. I don't care about AI as the only thing interesting is doing Time Trials.

Prologue is enjoyable and as a demo....is pretty good - but it will SUCK compared to the final product! :D

I don't really enjoy the tracks on prologue and the car selection is fairly limited (especially what you can modify etc).

typical Microsoft-Forza homo developers saying at E3 - "OMGZ FORZA WILL BE THE BEST GAME AND NOTHING WILL COMPARE (it's in a league of it's own)" - typical americans bagging out the competition even though they know nothing about the other game, happens every year. pity the 360 console is a piece of sh*t.

This game is the reason I'm buying a PS3. Hasn't been a ps3 game not on 360 that I've wanted to play bad enough, but when this is finally released I'll get a PS3 and a copy of this, and my overpriced xbox wheel will work with it also (supposedly). The rally looks bombed.

Yes you can do engine conversions ( not every car ) which is cool however the tracks are fucking lame. Its the same thing every cup however it might be in reverse or slightly bigger version.

Gt4 had more tracks and gt5 looks to have even more.

there COULD be a very high chance GT5 will come out at the end of this year! :) I dunno if they've announced anything at the gamescom show in Germany (at the moment), but theres another game show in Tokyo later on in the year.............so I would expect that to be "the event" for PS3 announcements etc :)

There's the Porsche 911 Turbo S Wheel. Comparable to the Logitech G25 and works with Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Logitech have released the G27. Mild improvements over the G25 including a more precise shifter, led array shift light, extra wheel buttons and helical cut internal gears instead of straight cut. This wheel doesn't produce as much 'noise' as the G25.

The good thing about the G25 is that you could put the shifter on the left or right side of the wheel, but the Porsche and the G27 are both on the right.

Pretty sure the G27 can go both sides as well. The pic down the bottom in the link below shows the shifter as a separate unit, and if you know the G25, you will see the same mounting points on the G27 in the pic above and in the link.

The good thing about the G25 is that you could put the shifter on the left or right side of the wheel, but the Porsche and the G27 are both on the right.

Dont bother with the G27. Read the reviews. The G25 is still better. The only big difference is the quieter gears which cause centering issues anyway. Also with the G27 they got rid of the sequential sift option on the shifter.

Sony are currently focusing their marketing efforts on the launch of the new Playstation portable device (PSP Go) and the new Gran Turismo Portable game.

A firm release date will almost certainly be announced next month at the Tokyo game show (24th to 27th September).

Originally it was rumoured that GT5 would have around 600 cars. (GT4 had a bit over 700). But during a recent games show in Europe some info was posted on the official Japanese GT5 website, but then subsequently pulled less than an hour later. The 'new' info stated that there would be around 1,000 cars.

Keep in mind GT5 car models have an insane amount of detail in comparison to GT4 plus all of the interiors are modelled. All of the drivers in all the cars are also rendered and animated. If you're driving a rally car you'll also have a co-driver animated and holding pace notes.

I made my own seat setup out of an old TV cabinet and some seat i picked up at the wreckers. Materials probably cost me about $90 for the seat, fasteners, glue, paint. Looked a bit ghetto and it was a real mission to get in and out... 600 for a clean looking setup with a bucket seat is alright...

yea i bought gt on psp its allright but no career mode and no parts upgrade is the only downfall there is a quick power upgrade option and weight reduction option in the tune setup though.i just bought it to get a head start on collecting some of the cars is good to kill time and the drift mode isnt half bad.

The distributor for the playseat is here in Perth I picked mine up for cheaper then that and I would say you guys could too. Just call them up and see what is the best price they can give you.

If you dont have the room to have a big play seat and want to pack it away once finished it is perfect and i feel the best on the market at the moment. I did a little research before buying it and all the reviews pointed towards this.

I've been priveliged to be given a sneak peak media copy of the GT Academy GT5 Time Trial game. It is really stripped down as it only has 2 cars (the normal 370z and a tuned version) and 1 track (the Indianapolis Speedway GP circuit) and was a quick 219MB download. It has the familiar GT5P functionality, look and feel.

R1/R1 tyres a lovely and grippy. But for a quick trip back to reality, the N3/N3 tyre combo requires finesse the peddles and a deft touch on the wheel.

As you can see, the game version I have will expire, so I best make the most of it.

While there are two individual time trials for the normal and tuned, the total time is also taken into account.

There are a few glitchy moments with the version I have with a noticeable hiccup every time I cross the line. I hope that this will be ironed out before release day of the fully fledged competition game.

And that's a little bit of a disappointment to me... as I am a competition licence holder I am not eligible to enter this, so will watch from the sidelines and see how the Antipideon drivers fair.

Mrs. has bought me G25 for christmas, now chomping at the bit. On a side note, Surprisingly NFS Shift is actually half decent with a wheel. Having a shit load of fun doing clutch kicks!

The GT Academy Time Trial is now available for download from the Japanese PlayStation Store (201MB). It should go live on the Australian store later this afternoon.

Keep in mind this is not a demo of GT5. It is a specifically designed time trial for the sole purpose of facilitating the GT Academy competition.

There is:
no damage modelling
no other AI cars (time trial only)
only two cars to chose from (370Z standard and 'tuned' 370Z)
no way to change the car setup or the driver assist settings.

However it does have:
a brand new physics engine
new vehicle sounds
minor graphical changes

Will have a crack tonight and start posting times in this thread.

Have a look in the date/time settings in the PS3 settings menu. There should be an option to set/sync your PS3's clock to "intenet time". That will stop that message you keep getting.

Well i played the demo a bit last night. Cant say it impressed me at all.

There was just no progressiveness to the controls whatsoever. Would no doubt be better with a wheel, but the controller was useless.

I'll stick with Forza for now i reckon.

Yep. It just doesnt allow for you to ease on the throttle anywhere near as well as you can with an Xbox controller so it ends up being all or nothing.

This demo is to find the fastest racers in each county, and have them potentialy go on to race in an actual 24hr GT race in a real car....

Not sure if they want someone good with a controller over a steering wheel.

But yes it seems to have been optimised for a steering wheel, which is how any GT game is best played!

good drift tracks are Autumn ring mini and nurburgring for X2 credits per points scored.

Well I got myself a PS3 so now just waiting for this. I'm all for having a polished game but really there's only a tiny percentage of people who will be interested in playing it in 3D or racing Nascar or any of the things the game was held up with to add to it. Could of easily been done with DLC.
