my lifters are shagged im pretty sure, when ya turn car on ticks for like 3 seconds then goes away, but when its at running temp, if i sit at lights for like more than a minute, starts ticking hard. goes away when i start driving again.
annoying as fuck.
how hard are they to change?

Tried changing to a different type of oil?
Lifters are a heads off job...may as well smash a dirty big cam in there and a get a set of CNC'd heads while your at it. :)

Dumping oil is fine...but I meant changing to a different viscosity/brand. What are you running currently?

Don't fuck around, just replace lifters, otherwise you will spend a fortune in oils trying to find one that MAY fix the problem.

Could also be low oil pressure aswell. we had an engine in my dads ute that after couple of seconds at idle would have less than 9psi of oil pressure.
We put another engine in, problem solved.

Really? Replacing the entire engine fixed the noise?
