Yesterday i listened to a pair of FOCAL splits and was very very impressed...vocal clarity was off the hook - mid bass was lacking but when filled out with sub it didn't really matter to me

Anyone running these?? If so, what have you got driving them and any other info you could tell me would be much appreciated, ie..Dynamat'd doors blah blah blah - also, who did your install...happy with work? After install service any good?

Lately i have had a number of shitty experiences with Perths car stereo places - i won't name them for fear of being flamed! Am almost happy with my setup and need a couple of more mods done but don't want my car to experience any further raping by shitty workers and shitty attitudes of sales/store peoples.

Currently i have last years Type R's...cheap bang for my buck - definately doing the FOCAL upgrade ASAP as i was blown away

*KIRBO - your expert opinion/comments would be appreciated!

*obviously Split choice, opinion & requirements will vary from ear to ear but i would like to do some research before outlaying top dollar

Have listened to a few differeny models of the Focals ie. K2 power and the Poly Glass both were exceptional spilts for the money but where very bright for my liking may have been to do with the placement of the tweeter.

Dynamat is a must! If your more looking for a higher quality sound look at the Audison range of amplifiers. Allow an amplifer with about 150w RMS per channel or more as the Focals love lots of power and this will be a way of getting some more midbass attack.

Also another worth while modification is having the midbasses mounted on a solid MDF mouting ring as this will improve midbass also.

I've got Focal Polyglas 165V Slim splits, and i'm with you, i love them.

Actually got all my car audio through NorthField Moorooka in Queensland.. Kirbo possibly knows why due to the fact he knows the guy i got them through.

I've had the gear for near on 2 years in october, Alpine 9883 deck, Focal Splits, Eclipse EA-4000 4 channel, and a Image Dynamics ID12v3 dual 2 ohm voice coil in a Northfield Box. Got it Cheap as a package, and Drew really knows his shit.

I have the Focal 165K3P 3-Way Splits. As you mentioned the bass lacks a little depth, but otherwise they are a brilliant set of speakers.

+1 on the big, good quality, amp and dynamat thing as well.

I use to run K2P 3ways.......yellow cone ones...but last years version...with the tn52 tweeter

very good midbass from them.....and the midrange was very detailed.....(midrange/tweeter in the kicks)

i ended up getting rid of the tn52 tweeter as even with -9db on them they still so in ya face and thats even in the kicks

Did my own. only thing took me a great deal of time install wise was placing of tweeters, and messing round with tweeter output on the corssover.

Westside Cannington carry focal and have proven to be solid installers, last I checked they had a demo car full of focal to boot. I also recommend Alberts Cannington. + NorthField if need be. :werd:
