RELEASE

Hey all,
looking at cheapest place to get Toyo Semi Slicks for my car.
In particular the R888 and for a 18" rim.
the tyres for the car should be a 245/45/18 with 96V load rating but it seems the toyos dont come in anything near that :(
now in 45series they have no 18 based on there AUS website which means speedo etc will be slightly out but not such a big issue at the track
The closest i am gonna get is:
245/40ZR18 93Y
255/35ZR18 94Y
265/35ZR18 97Y (Meets and exceeds load rating) but may rub at the front guards
From the site:
30 SERIES
335/30ZR18 102Y
315/30ZR18 98Y
295/30ZR18 98Y
285/30ZR18 97Y
35 SERIES
275/35ZR18 99Y
265/35ZR18 97Y
255/35ZR18 94Y
40 SERIES
245/40ZR18 93Y
235/40ZR18 91Y
225/40ZR18 92Y
now if i go the 265/35ZR18 97Y that meet the load rating will rolling the front guards mean i can get away with it and from my calculations by going wider 245 to 265 the lower profile over stock 45 to 35 means the sidewall may be very close to the size of the one for the stock 245/45/18????
load rating is a big thing for me as i am gonna need it for the track but also as they are a street legal tyre i want them to be right as i will probably drive to the track with them on from home or the workshop
Give Bayswater Tyres a call, their prices are usually pretty good. And at the least, you might have your questions answered. The owner Mark loves to talk ;)

thanks for the replies.
definately going TOYO R888s in 245/40/18 93Y all around as they are gonna suit my car and what performance i want out of the tyres well :)
just sourcing prices.
it seems the price i got over east was a phoney.
waiting on some prices which should be easily cheaper than locally
hey, just wondering about the load rating you are after, are you sure 96 is right? i thought the ve's only needed 94?yeah looked at tyre placard last night.
was told i can have whatever the lowest is on the tyre placard NO MATTER the tyre size.
94W is the lowest and thats for the 19".
even still wont be able to "legally" drive them to and from the track

have u ever thought about tire rack?
they dont sell toyos but for an example, 4x 265/35/18 advan A048 http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/yokohama/yo_advan_a048_ci2_l.jpg
would cost about 1800 landed (3-5 days) if u dont pay gts or tax.
have plenty of other brand racing rubber so might be worth the look unless your dead set on toyo r888

For motorsport tyres:
Kostera do Dunlop
Exleys in Willetton were doing Yokohamas (presume they still do)
Toyo is only through Marc @ Bayswater
I was working for one of the biggest sellers of Toyo tyres in Perth the other week and even then Toyo would not us out and said I had to go through Mark :(

dean, what prices did you end up getting for the 18" RE55s?
or the advans?Kerry at Bridgestone Motorsport was at the time able to do them for a smidge over $500 per tyre RE55 on the 18"
not sure now tho.
His price for RE55 for 18" was cheaper than the Toyo R888 for perth anyway
although have heard you get more kms out of a Toyo R888 over a RE55 but grip levels are better on the RE55

What are the treadwear numbers? Lower = softer = grippier in most cases

im chasing either the best price for
RE55's ... R888s ... A048s ... even the 585 RS-R's
end of the day, i want a R-comp (for the extra grip), but BFYB ... as my stock car isnt going to be reaching the limits of the tyres etc.
happy with any brand
