 Gday

My bro has a vs 5 litre ute with the t5 borg warner behind it.

recently he just had the box rebuilt as the bearings were noisy and the input shaft was abit flogged (common problems apparently with the t5's?)

whilst it was out he decided to put a new clutch in, a new spigot bearing as well...

now heres the problem.. we've checked the thrust bearing carrier on the nose cone, it fits, we've checked the clutch plate on the input shaft splines, it fits.. we've aligned the clutch using the plastic input shafts, we've tried an actual t5 gearbox input shaft to align it..

no matter what we try the gearbox wont slide into the clutch.. is there some 'trick' we dont know about?

thanks for any help

John

my t56 is often a pingpingpingping like that.

we always have to get it in a little bit, then use some longer bolts and then tighten, so the bolts to bring the gearbox to the engine.

thats a joke right?

tried putting the box in gear, and twisting the output shaft a little when its not matching up to try and sync everything?

^ yep have tried that as well. put box in 1st gear, and like twisted the box side to side...still no luck

twisted box or the shaft? if the splines are lined up exactly on the splines off the other side, instead of in the cut outs, its not going to go together, twisting the box will do nothing. twisting the output shaft in gear will twist the input shaft as well.

dude we've tried that also. pro was turning the output shaft whilst in first and no matter what i still didnt want to line up.

i dont think its an alignment problem.

I doubt it, He's had the motor(s) out of his ute more times than I'd care to imagine.
