Well turns out the father of the kid who dropped the brick through my car no longer wants to be contacted and is ignoring all attempts of communication so I now have to take it a step further. I've never done this before and have no idea what to do? do i go to small claims court? I got in contact with a mob called the citizens advice bureau and they recommend sitting down with one of their lawyers who can only give advice but wont help me. I'm also waiting for the cops to call me back if they can divulge any more details in regards to contacting the family as all i have is the dads 1st name and mobile number and now greypages doesnt exist the only services left are payed and I don't know if he will even be on there. has anybody been through this before with seeking compensation? so far i'm out of pocket nearly $500 and there is still another $300odd at least to go i recon

To be honest, if someone bricked my car window, and they didn't pay up, I would be returning the favour after a couple months.

This is true. I gave up on nearly $40k because it was too hard and even if you win you may not get paid while you will still have to pay your own legal fees.
THe only thing you can get out of this is a bit of revenge. Post up his mobile and first name and see if anyone can help locate him.

ok his name is Brett, his number is 0450 186 656, he told me he is a mechanic and I believe he works in the joondalup area as he mentioned joondalup windscreens was down the road to where he worked plus i know his wife works at k mart as she still had her uniform on
I don't know exactly how the police work with charges because he was 11 but it was the kids second offense. I have a card from the police with the incident number and contact detail on it. still waiting on them to call me back too.

Fuck that. Call them and insist on charges - this is why we pay taxes. 11 years old or 90, it doesn't matter. The Police will be trying to avoid laying charges because of the extra paperwork. Once the little fuckstain is charged you can seek compensation for the damage from the courts.

You can't charge 11 year olds. Some minors can do crime and get away with it. Which is the reason why certain families get their young kids to shoplift while their parents wait outside, because the law can't punish them. Not sure of the exact age limit though, 11 could be under of above that limit...

Yes you can. The "Age of Reason" is 10 and over. Children between 10 and 14 can only be prosecuted if the prosecution can provide evidence that the child knows right from wrong. Given this is the second time the Police have been involved with this kid, prosecution can proceed.
Charge that little shit.

Follow all the correct legal channels, yes the law is a pingpingpingping to you sometimes but in this instance it is your best option

the only reason I ask is that maybe empty threats arnt such a good idea, maybe one day he will just say yeh the money is here waiting. you go around and get ure head kicked in by the 5 guys waiting for you.
