Hey
Thinking of upgrading my cams in my sr20det build
I am decided on a hks 264 inlet step 2.
What i dont know is how crazy my idle is going to be with a 272 step 2 exhaust cam.
I am wondering has anyone seen a step 2 272 cam in a sr20 ?
How does it behave ?
My car is a daily driver(whens its going ) and see's peak hour every day. So i cant have anything thats too crazy.

i think that 272 (step 3) is livable, it wont make any more power that 264 cams it only changes the power band, it will highly depend on the turbo selection and your power, rpm goals

I had them on my 200, and it wasnt bad. Had a nice lumpy idle, but was quite streetable I thought.

i am looking at tomei 270 12.5lift i am running a gt3540R tho only reving it to 8000rpm i was told that 12.5 is the biggest lift u can go before u need solids?
is this true?
Thanks

Dude
If ur going to 8k rpm, i'd be doing solids b4 u do big cams.
Big cams are really only needed to shift the power band down, so the motor's rpm actually uses the turbo bolted on it.
As in a previous post stated, I think HPI did a test on it once too, 264 cams were the peak power, 272 and higher lift just lowers the "boost threshhold" that the turbo responds too.
Dont confused boost thresh hold with lag either ....
My sr20 has 272 Step 3 11.5mm and 12mm lift cams ... intake and exhaust.
Cant tell u what it drives like, but the idle is awesome (Mates car has them)
If ur running that big at turbo, i'd look around to see whoelse has used that turbo setup and see what they run. I Doubt however u'd have a GT35 Running out of puff on an sr20 anyway, no matter what cams u had in it.

8k rpm was never mentioned
i think butters is sensible enough not to over-rev
