Hey Guys
I was wondering if this sorta gap is guna be an issue.

SSR SP1 with 3mm slip on spacer onto the front of S15.
Do I have any other options other than
Raising the car
Buying new coilovers.
The car is not slammed by any stretch.

Not the best pic at night sorry.
I have tried winding on some spring tension to try and get the spring seat up above the wheel but I dont wana put to much on it.
I tried the biggest feeler gauge I have (.88mm) and it moves freely so I'm guessing just over 1mm clearance.
They are BC coilovers (not buddyclub)
Any ideas would be great
Tony

Looks a bit close in the pic, have to allow for a bit of movement in the tyre and it looks like theres barely a gap at all.
Does the hole in the centre of the rim still sit over the locator on the hub? If not does the spacer have a raised section to fit inside the rim? If not you risk snapping wheel studs.

18x9" rim.. what size tyre, 235?
i have a pretty much identical setup on my 31, 17x9 literally JUST fits between the front guard and coilover.
i have about 1-2mm clearance to the strut, and due to a 235 being ever so slightly stretched on a 9", it doesn't move enough to touch the shock.
lower the car some more so the lock nut is inside the rim. :D

Lol thanks Mitchy. Tyre is 225. I think if I can wind in some more spring tension it would at least move it up so if it does flex enough it will only hit tyre not strut. but how much tension is to much?

You mean tyre not rim? Anything contacting the tyre sidewall is bad.

ahh, shouldn't have an issue then.
worst comes to worst, will a 5mm cause any rubbing on the outside? gives you another 2mm clearance.
more camber in the front tony ;)
i'd be running a small spacer. last set of rims i had when i went up driveways my tyre would touch my coilover so when u go to flip ya tires u have big lines all the way around and looks shit and is dangerous.

sell rims and get some with better offset.

get camber bolts to give it positive camber, then move your strut top inwards and it should line up straight with a few more mm of space between rim and strut
im assuming s15 run a 2 bolt foot on the coilver to the hub, and adjustable camber tops...

Positive camber is gay though...

it wont actually have positive camber though.
what you can do with these coilovers is add positive camber where the hub bolts to the coilover, pushing the rim further out.
but then where the strut top is, you can dial in negative camber, essentially keeping the wheel in the same spot, just putting the strut at more of an angle for clearance.
kinda hard to explain without looking at it, makes sense in my head though

Cant take credit for the idea tho, RRob told me to do that with my laser years ago to get better clearance on the rear wheels :D

and S13
S13's are gay though. :P
