5 stages down so far.

White in the lead with some mental Lambo.

Steve in 4th in the R35.

It's wet, and there's been some massive stacks already:

I love White's Super Trofeo Strada, absolute porn!

Richards in the new '10 GT3 RS probably woulda preferred dry conditions against all the AWD drive monsters.

2:52pm - The following cars have gone off on the same corner of TS21.

#591, Simon Froude and Andrew Scott, 1973 Porsche 911 RSR.

#819, David Ayers and Robbie Bolton, 1997 Nismo 400R, who were running second in Early Modern.

#978, Steve Glenney and Bernie Webb, 2009 Mazda RX8, who were third in Modern.

------

Major dramas on Mt Roland!

EDIT: 4:10pm - "Is there any more news on the TS21 crashes? Justin, Brighton."

Car 591 (Froude) crashed and went off the road. Car 819 (Ayers) stopped to check that all was okay.

Before the crew of car 819 had time to warn following cars, car 978 (Glenney) came around the corner. His car collided with car 819, which had no occupants.

Lambo looks awesome, but isn't it a bit over kill for a Targa event in Aus? From what I read they were built for a 1 make race in Europe, surely not cheap. I know it'll be some tax write off to some company and hardly affecting anyone specifically in the pocket but still, that's alotta coin..

motorsport is a dollars game as much as a skill one - how badly do you want to win?

Keep going TJ, They were saying 1mil last year at Buller. Another 200k 6 weeks ago to bring it up from a "Superleggera R" to the Trofeo what'd ya call it. Wouldn't suprise me if there was another 100k somewhere!

...and without question its more a dollars game than a skill game!

Yeah but their car is the "Strada" (road) version, not the Blancpain Super Trofeo race car used in the European series. Still expensive obviously.

Looks hot in orange too.

Man the carnage brings the reality of this sort of rallying back into focus doesn't it.
Thanks for the pics and the reality check.

What suspension tuning would these guys be doing on their cars to make them handle well in a tarmac rally environment (as opposed to a circuit)?
I'd imagine you'd want a bit more travel than a circuit car, and a lot of high speed bump compliance to cope with all the random divots that you find on country roads... but not make it into a boat.

I'm considering the ATC this year, but I'm doubting the teins I have will be up for it without some well considered setup and massaging.
