ey,
every so often whilst on the freeway at a steady speed, the engine makes a slow low frequency whirring/helicopter sound... initially i thought it might be a belt but someone told me it may be a problem with a bearing...
any suggestions?

Not sure but when you go over a bridge it sometimes makes a sound like that.

Could be your tyres..
Run your hands over them and feel for scalloping/uneven wear across the tyre.

yeah funny...
changed the wheels to stock last week cause of wear, still makes the sound.
sort of like a repetitive weak rev

Does it make the noise when your next to a wall?
Sounds like tyre/road noise to me.
Must be an improvement to the truck engine noise from between the strut towers surely

dw bout it... its not coming from the road or the tires.
Its the engine
I used the freeway as an example because it seems to only do it when in a high gear around 2.5k-3.5k

Wheel bearings? When theres no traffic around and its making the noise, steer left to right and see if the noise changes or goes quiet as youre swerving.

sure its not the pulsing thumping noise that so many cars with decent exhaust systems get as your cruising along.
Its hard to explain but it definitely sounds chopper ish , and if it is that then nothing to be worried about at all.
May have to get a mechanicly minded person to go for a drive on the weekend with you .
Also timing chain guide maybee yeh nah ?
