hey guys , just sussing out how people have done/set up oil drains for turbos

on buick v6 , ok ideally you would remove the sump and weld a fitting in BUT

the motor is still in the car and i dont want to remove it just to do that

i can drill the sump and screw a fitting in BUT then run the risk of the metal

shavings/fillings get caught up in bearings etc . . what has everyone else

tried or done that works ???

cheers for your help

Drain oil.
Drop steering rack.
Remove sump.
Put in oil return.
Bolt sump back in.
Bolt steering rack back in.
Refill oil.
??????
Profit.

I was joking. None the less you are going to the effort of fitting a turbo why dont you do what vsclubby wrote. Will take you an hour at the most.

I think it's safer not to. If you pull the steering rack and k frame off you'll end up chrome plating the whole underside on the car or something silly..

turbo drain into your dipstick hole , dont worry about checking oil !
(ive actually done this on a mini)

grease on the drillbit drilling the hole to grab the grease, compressed air blown in via sump plug towards drilling location. flush kero or petrol thru engine after drilling/tapping thread....... fill with some cheap oil, run it, drain it and replace filter.... hang on cheap oil... its a comm v6, should only have cheap oil in it to begin with. if your not retarded, then what i have said will make perfect sense. good luck.

maybe you could get a dash fitting that screws into the sump plug and run a braided line as a drain from snail to sump. mite have to get a few 90' bends and shit, ive seen this used before in rb30 rocker covers to empty back to the sump,

if its just oil return, why not remove the dip stick tube reinforce it then drill&tap a thread to it? even braze a flare fitting on it??
