Got it confirmed, next proper delivery is in first week of July. So you now have plenty of notice for a change :)
Order deadline is Friday morning 25th June.
Delivery will be on thursday 8th of July.
Here are the prices. They've changed a few things with the grades and pricing and so on. Some of the high end cuts are actually a bit cheaper now.
MBS 3/4
Scotch Fillet $42 a kilo
Tomahawk - roughly 40 a kilo, not sure if it can be delivered, depends on how many people want them. Let me know.
Tenderloin $50 a kilo
MBS 5/6
Porterhouse $55 a kilo
Scotch Fillet $50 a kilo
Tenderloin $60 a kilo
Rump $25 a kilo
MBS 7/8
Porterhouse $70 a kilo
Scotch Fillet $70 a kilo
Rump $32 a kilo
Tenderloin $80 a kilo
MBS 9+
Porterhouse $80 a kilo
Scotch Fillet $80 a kilo
Rump $34 a kilo
Tenderloin $90 a kilo
Rough weights are as follows:
Porterhouse 2.7 kg
Scotch Fillet 4.5 kg
Tenderloin 2 kg
Rump 6 kg
Tomahawk 1.5-2kg
Please note you cannot buy one individual kilo, but a chunk of the whole meat. Refer to the above list for approximate weight. The prices above are PER KILO, not per chunk. I've had a few people confused in the past...

Not that it matters overly much - out of curiosity, how are these succulent animals kept before being slaughtered? caged & fed?
ps. will get order in by end of the week!

I'm tossing up between;
MBS 3/4
Scotch Fillet $42 a kilo
or one of these 2;
MBS 5/6
Porterhouse $55 a kilo
Scotch Fillet $50 a kilo
Suggestions? Wagyu virgin here :)

LOL @ caged cow. They're not chickens!
They're out roaming free on the paddocks. They got a few massive farms up north and down south. They're very well taken care of, look up what it takes to breed wagyu :) They are grain fed. They have a special diet.
Also, when they are slaughtered, they have no idea it is coming, each one is individually taken out from the herd, far away inside the abattoir, out of the blue bolt to the head, it's dead. So they never have the time to stress etc. Stress in an animal prior to death = shitty meat.
As a wagyu virgin, you will be mightly impressed with the 3/4. 5/6 is a better grade, so you will be even more impressed. Up to you I suppose.

Personally i don't find much difference bwteen 3/4 and 5/6, its only when you get to the 7/9 you notice a difference.
Also the Angus is JUST as good as the Wagyu because it isn't packed full of fat but lives the same.

Personal taste I suppose. I can spot the difference. I once even cooked few steaks with different grades, and having them side by side it was definately noticeable. Also depends on how you cook it, if you stuff it up and cook the better grade past medium, to well done, it won't taste as good as a perfect medium-rare cooked lower grade, if that makes sense.
Angus is close to the 3/4 wagyu. Essentially they have started with angus many years ago, and still have some angus in the stock, but they are breeednig it out into wagyu.
And like I mentioned before, some people find too much marbling too rich for them, so they prefer lower grades. And some prefer angus over wagyu.

If anyone wants Angus, I can get that too, here is the pricelist:
Porterhouse $40 a kilo
Scotch $40 a kilo
Rump $20 a kilo
Tenderloin $50 a kilo
Same size chunks as wagyu.

Just saw this article about Neil Perry opening a new restaurant in Burswood, serving $100 wagyu steaks.
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/lifestyle/a/-/food/7405932/perth-light-drives-10m-restaurant-bid/
If it will be like Rockpool in eastern states, they're 100-200 grams max. You can have two kilos of wagyu for that much and cook it yourself, into a bigger steak :D
Put me down for 1 tomahawk but could be +1 (TBC) :)
Ryan1080
17-06-2010, 09:09 AM
Yep, will do. Hopefully they'll be available if I have enough orders for them. So far I got about 15 so there's a good chance.

Can you deliver to my work before 8pm thursday? in innaloo?
Just had a look, yep, I reckon I can. PM me where to.
Rough route:
Leave CBD at 6:45
Mt Hawthorn
Balga
Duncraig
Edgewater
Sinagra
Darch
Alexander Heights
Morley
then head SOR to
Cloverdale
Leeming
Booragoon
South Lake
Munster
I'm guessing on average less than 10 mins between each leg, couple of minutes at each door, etc.
Hope that helps :)

To those who have ordered tomahawks, unfortunately (as suspected) they are not available this month. Swan Brewery ordered all of them so we missed out. They will be available next month though.

LOL @ Brewery markup!
Ryan1080

Far out, didn't realise they were selling them for that much, wow!!
They're the only ones in Perth who sell it though. Can't even get it at a butcher, all goes to them. Sounds like they're getting a lot of business out of it (and money lol). Anyway, had a few words with people in charge, so it should be available for us next month. :)
