I know this place seems like it's turning into a commodore forum at times, but I have a lifetime ban from the biggest ones, so I'm not left with much of a choice.

My engine in my Berlina has seen better days, so I've sourced a Ecotec V6 out of a late model Vy. Now I know the late model ecotecs run the EGR system, so I should just be able to swap my valley cover and intlet over onto the new engine. My main question is, do the early model headers fit the late model engines, I was under the impression that the heads are the same, but I haven't been able to source much information through work at all. Which is shit house considering I work for Holden.

I'm fairly certain everything should plug in off of my existing loom, but if anyone can point me in the direction of a thread where someone has done this conversion or knows anything that'd be great.

Thanks kids

done this my self a few time vs-vy and vy-vs.. It can be done, intake manifold has to be changed along with both exhaust manifolds as the vy exhaust manifold has egr on the left bank and has longer runners on the right. So yes the manifolds are interchangeable
Other then that every thing else is the same.

Thanks brother, I had a VS come in this afternoon with a VY manifold on it with a bolt where the EGR goes, so I got an answer from that. The engine in it is dead, so with anyluck I can get the manifold off it for myself.

Cheers for the reply :)

Thought Buick heads (VN-VR) were different to Ecoknock (VS-VY)? I was under the impression that the only real similarities between the 2 motors were the capacity and the fact they had 6 cyls, nothing was inter-changeable??

Eco knocks have roller rockers whereas the early s1 had basic push type iirc
ive got a vs engine here with everything that hangs off it, has heads off though going cheap as im not going to use it make an offer if you want.

I'm pretty keen on this other engine, it's low k's and has 180 across the board. Thanks for the offer.
