i have accquired a RB25DE motor... possible to +T it?? anyone done such a thing? wise? torquey? bomb ready to blow setup?
ive seen SR20DE+T done before and they work mint.
what is good?

Is it the R32 RB25de .... does it have the same intake plenum as your rb20
only issue is limited boost
If its the 32 25de youd be able to run all your wire and ecu from your existing setup and tune the ecu to the new comp ratio and capacity

Correct me if im wrong, but isn`t the compression different on a n/a motor as opposed to a turbo motor?

yeah it can be done but you just can't run much boost.

Besides the internals and so on, can't you get HKS spacers n stuff to lower the comp ratio? (not talking about a thicker head gasket, an actual spacer)
But if an rb25det can go bang easily, i wouldn't take my chances doing a bolt on to an N/A motor, unless it was fully rebuild for the purpose.

Check SAU, heaps of info on it. Its like turbo'in an sr20de, gets done a fair bit and aslong as its tuned right it should be fine! There are adjustments that need to be made obviously tho ;)

ive heard of it being done before. just gotta remember wen nissan design that motor (na) its not designed for additional pressurised air, ie not designed specifically to be placed under more strain from a turbo. a lot of imports can have a t added just gotta run low boost. but dont ask me in a spastic wen it comes to the specifics. one of my friends has an s13 and bolted a turbo on and that runs mint. he ran a 13.1 for the 400 last time i heard. did it all himself too

Yeah it all depends on how much boost you can run on a higher comp engine, the RB25DET is 9.0:1 whereas the DE has a compression ratio of 10:1.
You could add a decompression plate and make the engine more boost freindly but If you were gonna crack the motor open you might aswell go forged pistons with a dish which will drop compression.

You would allso need to worry about the rest of the car, such as gearbox and diff as i think they are different to the t model. I had a n/a r33 2 do for a while and wanted to get it turbod but everyone just said that it aint worth the trouble coz of the expense.

mate just did this to his nonturbo r33; running all stock turbo parts in the car with exhuast, fmic, airfilter and safc2 made 270rwhp @ 9psi
not bad for a once nonturbo r33

yeh the nissan motor would handle it , just as long as its tuned properly, mainly the fuel side so it doesnt run leaner than about 13:1, and the intake temps cant be too high either so as long as you run a good intercooler- GTR one would be sufficent, youll be right. If it detonates once, it will more than likely damage the pistons, and if it doesnt blow it wouldnt be long. I dont wanna try and scare ya though. if its tuned well, detonation shouldnt happen.
It would be a wise idea to run it on BP ultimate too.
Would be a very nice motor, very torquey and lowish spool time. yeehar.

The DE probably doesn't have the oil squirters either (i'm sure the DET did have?)...

can be done mate easy enough, anythin can be done but if u run an intercooler and just make sure u don't boost it over around about 9-10 pound it should be good for a lil while.Mind u i would probebly only wana run about 8psi my self and just make sure u get a good tune before u rape it.

Seen a car making 272rwhp out of an NA R33 plus T. Running stock turbo, aftermarket FMIC and decent exhaust etc. Has a crazy ass torque curve as well.

bahaha..mmmm wots the point. Its not that bloody expensive. In the end run, it will blow. unless u just wanna run around on 8psi all ur life.lol NOT ME

Its running 8 or 9psi (can't remember exactly) and still spitting out that power. Crazy as torque curve I know I'd be happy with that as a street car.
