Which is why Foxtel has been locking everyone into 2 year contracts, as most people in the game have known about the whole "FREEVIEW" plan for about 5 years.

Eventually most stations will have 3 or 4 channels each, much like sbs & abc currently have.

Maybe even CH10 will get their act together and start an actual HD channel with content other than sport.

what is the point of a designated sports channel if you are just going to put it on both anyway!

Generally only at shit times though.
I reckon it sounds pretty good. It's targeting 16-49yo males and with that selection of shows they have done a good job.
I guess the idea is that at 5pm in the afternoon you'll be able to tune into Monster Garage or something, that would be pretty cool.

Because unless your tv can receive digital/HD channels, you can't watch it on channel one, so it's on channel 10 also.

But in saying that, its usually on channel 1, channel 10 and one of the fox sports channels.

Hmm, anyone have any experience with the USB-recording Set Top Boxes? Saw one on sale in DSE and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the DVD recorders. Might be a good investment with all these shows being on freeview, saves me torrenting them lol.

Agree, when Foxtel first came out there was f-all ads and decent programs that lasted a month or so.

Anti-siphoning legislation, they aren't allowed to show it on One before it's on 10, so they put it on One anyway because it's HD, and for sports. The anti-siphoning legislation will include the new channels soon, so AFL (for example) will be able to just be played on One live.

bloke at work wanted to d/c foxtel in the end he stayed with them but ended up with 2 IQ box's and all channels for $50 per month. result!

When i d/c my foxtel i was firm in the mindset i dont want it anymore so didnt bother to bargain or anythin, now hearing the deals some people are getting kinda wished i did. But at the same time when i got rid of foxtel about 10mths ago it was pretty shit bulk ads and heaps of repeats, even now i go up Petas parents place and watch their foxtel and it the exact same episodes still being repeated.

Nah what I mean is: HD broadcast looks all bright and beautiful on an HDTV. Put the same broadcast signal onto your monitor and you can pick out artefacts super easily, the colours aren't right, there's a distinct black border around the image because it hasn't been overscanned like a TV would, etc etc.

Or maybe I'm using a crappy tuner? It's a 5 year old FusionHDTV that I gutted from my old computer.
