View Full Version : RB into pintara, yes?
Just got a cheap ass R31 pintara wags as a daily, Regod and all, wanna do an RB conversion to it. It's got the CA20 motor in it, cant say I've ever heard of it, any Nissan fanboys help me out? Wanna put a 20 in it, something similar to what dan did to his 32.. Pretty sure RB will got into pintara as it's same as skyline, but just want some confirmation..
Sell it, buy a skyline 31, will cost you alot less in the long run.

Will it work with minimal fuss? yes.
Is it a good idea? no.

R31 skylines are cheap enough to pick up these days, no need to buy something that will end up needing engineering to be legally road registered.
I've got nothing against the conversion and it's merits, I just don't think it's worthwhile for a daily.

If you got a 20 with loom and everything lying around to use why not. Be better then the CA20. Also aren't pintara's fwd?

use an r31 skyline crossmember and engine mounts. use a matching RB manual box. r31 SKYLINE tailsfaft will then fit up. you'll need a custom gearbox crossmember as skyline and pintara floorpans are different.

lol no point getting a skyline instead of pintara, if your gonna do the rb conversion it's not hard to get parts, and would make for a fun cheap daily

floorpan is different around the gearbox, hence the need for custom crossmember. otherwise same same.

my friend ran a pintara as a full time pizza delivery driver for 3 years, without so much as an oil change (or even checking the level, i'm sure there was very little oil left in it) and topping up the coolent every now any then
he fell asleep one night and crashed it into a stop sign causing bulk front end damage
another night locked it up and ran into the tow ball of the series 100 landcruiser I was piloting (helis on wet grass in cyclone season yeoooow)
the fucking thing never died, i think he ended up getting 3k min trade on a one of the 100kw carollas
so, I say do it :D
i'm disowning you if you buy a 20.
werent you praising the 20 after marbles beat brockbank at PC?
that being said, if the ca18 is better option, then ill go down that track. i just thought id ask if a 20 could be done and if its same as skyline, not that it looks too hard though..

wasn't there a forged ca18 for sale in classifieds?
if you had the cash for it that could shut everyone up pretty quickly
yeh would do but im all the way over in nsw, tryin to keep it on the cheap side... i dont have bulk coin to throw at it, dont wnt anythin too stupid either. just somethin with a bit of poke, and gate.

why would u go a ca18det with that type of weight ? a 20 would be a much better option. but once u factor in a cooler, exhaust, boost controler, pump it does get up there.

Pintaras don't weigh all that much, 1300kg or something

ca18 and rb20 are both gutless... doesnt really matter which one you choose.

hey mate iv got a r31 skyline wagon converted the rb30 auto to rb20det manual, the gbox xmember is modified to mount the gbox and also the loom has to be modified by the computer(just a few wires to a relay) if u want to have a look sometime send me a message but it sure turns heads and you get to see alot of stunned faces
