Hey
I've had my 7 for about err 2 or so years now, the clutch is starting to feel like it might give up the ghost at some stage. I'd rather get on top of replacing it prior to that happening. Main question is, everyone has different opinnions on what clutch is good and what isn't on these cars. So I was chasing some suggestions from those of you who actually have an evo, or some knowledge.
Basically the car is fairly stock at the moment, but eventually will be getting cams, turbo, tune etc. So what should I be looking at ?

A lot of people seem to recommend the Exedy HD Organic single for street use with some track work, they can handle a fair whack of power/torque.
Planning on grabbing one of them once my clutch is gone and going to have same mods that you are looking at.
Have been told Racetorque do a similar clutch to the Exedy with a Ralliart pressure plate and Organic clutch face which is also good.
Otherwise have a look at the Exedy or ORC twin plate clutches.
Oh, also have been told to stay away from the puck type clutches as you will end up blowing your gearbox/transfer case.
Maybe have a chat to Racetorque or Tokyo Motorsports and they will be able to sort it for you.

I've got the ORC Carbon twin in my 7. I'll never make that mistake again. Next one will be the Exedy HD single.

Hmmm I had looked into the single, and the hyper twin, I've never limiter launched the car, but I do stall launch and I just don't think the single would handle it. I think it'll end up being the hyper twin, what is tokyo motorsports like at installations, as I don't usually trust anyone to work on my cars, but an evo clutch is not something I'd take on myself.

Got Allstar to put a Exedy twin in my shit heap. And when it can be bothered, it sometimes hooks up quite nicely.
But beware of the twin plate fart, if you can't live with it, get something organic.
PS Allstar ftw

Twin plate noise doesn't bother me at all, it's what will be going into my skyline also. I've certainly never heard anything bad about Allstar, might start ringing around to get some ideas on cost

My current clutch is an exedy hd organic and still feels great after nearly 3 years of abuse.
Previous to that I had an xtreme 9 button which lasted less than a year due to a few launches which ripped parts of the ceramic button off, stuck to the pressure plate and ripped through the clutch plate.

Sounds like the single hd organic is the go then really, wasn't really expecting that to be honest.
TMS (Autoworkshop back in the day) installed my ORC 409D single plate.
To date can't fault it. I don't launch it and I've heard certain twins are better at dealing with that. However on the street and out on the track it has performed faultless
It was more expensive....and maybe I could've gotten something cheaper that would've done exactly the same. But enough people have changed their clutches whilst mines be fine to make me believe it was a good buy.

I'm repping Allstar pretty hard at the moment. Of all the workshops who've had my car they've been the very best people to work on it yet. I cannot recommend them enough really. They did my clutch in my skyline a few months ago and some other stuff, and also took the liberty of fixing a huge amount of shit that other people had messed up or that was about to fail.
