Usually you get your own bar and toilets and a VIP bit over looking the mainstage. Some times the bands come and chill in the VIP to watch the other acts

I remember at one festival we got unlimited free nandos. Unfortunately i wasnt hungry for the whole day.

Lol Telly, I hope you and everyone else swarm The Presets stage to give the other festival goers room to see decent acts. The 'sets are always a massive letdown.

Honestly, I get really excited when the Festival lineups come out, I tell myself I'm going to go see this, this that, this one and that.

On the day, I generally end up Batman drunk and wander around trying to find my friends dancing on my own.

Disagree i seen them at Metros Freo when they were up and coming and it was awesome. I was also sober.

I havent seen them since they made it so their live shows may have dropped a bit. This is their first show in two years

THIS!!
QFT!

Always the way...

Walk in rollin 40 deep, check lineup timetable thingy, chat shit with the crew about who we are going to watch, loose track of a little time, pay extortionate amounts of money for premixed cans of drink, loose track of more time, end up a busted up mess walkin around on your own chattin shit to randoms looking for said 40 people all day - goes dark, wonders where day went and didnt see anyone that you planned to see all day!!

Good times tho!

Cereal? They've been rubbish the last few times they've played big gigs, and I could've sworn they were on last year's Perth festival roll call, but not sure which event.

Regardless, I love that everyone swarms there to see them and leaves some empty stages for better performances.

This event has a Stereosonic feel to it, a few great acts and some wish-wash to kill time. Not sure if I'll hit it up yet, Joondalup is a huge trek and a certainty of epic punch ons with skummy locals. Is it a public holiday the day after? That usually makes my mind up for me.

LOL, you're kidding me right?

I swear to god i hope you are.

The single reason why prices for festivals/events keep going up, is because of the fines the organisers/promoters receive. Liquor enforcement fines being the biggest one.

Sure acts want more money, but with growing crowd sizes that's enough alone to afford the acts that come, but with so many retards at events and fuckbags jumping fences, prices go up every year.

AGIT8D
14-10-2010, 11:28 AM
What liquor license fines do they get?

I've found a solution to combat these issues of high prices to see shit acts.

Choose an event that caters to one style of music that you like, and has tickets for under $100.

HELLOOOOOOOOO BREAKFEST!

Dirty32
14-10-2010, 11:35 AM
So - your saying it is not getting more expensive to attend a festival??

I understand the principal behind organisers raising prices if they recieve a fine, but that matters to me how?

I pay good money to attend, walk in the gate and buy my drinks (for an obscene amount) - all legally... So I should be charged extra for liquor enforcement fines?? How does that work??
Should that not be covered and accounted for in the 500% profit they make on the sale of a premixed can of drink??

Do you seriously think that organisers are not wanting more profit for their investment or organising these huge events to break even?? Dont think so...

Apparently at the Arena in Joondalup...

Cant really see how they would make that work though - the main oval is ok for 1 stage and would not cater for a large multi stage event... If you go to the fields on the west side of the complex, its big enough for maybe 2 stages or a couple of smaller stages, but there is absolutely no permanent fencing and there are trees everywhere that provide ample coverage for those that will try to jump them porta-fence things... Could span it out over a couple of the spaces and areas at the Arena, but again its going to be too easy to jump fences from a number of places around the whole complex!

TJ

It's at arena. Not going purely based on that.

yup was keen ... found out its in Joondalup ... not keen on being stabbed.

Dirty32
14-10-2010, 05:12 PM
Come on... Joondalup isnt that bad lol!

The plus is that theres gonna be bulk young (possibly read underage) NOR sluts about.

The bad side is (according to some opinions on pricing of an event) if its in Joondalup, we should be paying $250 a ticket because theres gonna be bulk train rats jumpin the fences and heaps of underage people buying drinks so a good chance of hefty liquor enforcement fines...

Evilteddy
14-10-2010, 05:17 PM
What liquor license fines do they get?

People that haven't got wristbands on. - ID hasn't been checked = In a licensed venue with out ID being checked.

Fence jumpers is the same thing.

Underage punters in a licensed venue.

So - your saying it is not getting more expensive to attend a festival??

Do you seriously think that organisers are not wanting more profit for their investment or organising these huge events to break even?? Dont think so...

I never said it wasn't getting more expensive to attend. and i never said that organisers were not wanting more profit.

All i said, is that the biggest reason for the increase in ticket prices is because of the fines.

Sure the organisers want a bigger profit, sure they want as much money as they can, but they also don't want have any of 'their' profit lost due to fines.

It's just like if a shop has someone stealing something constantly, that shop is losing 'profit' so they increase prices to cover the difference.
