So guys, just found out my mate also got an infringement for speeding from what I think is the same camera that got me about 3 weeks ago. Wondering if anyone else got done coz aparently shitloads of people did. It was on the kwinana freeway just after the narrows but just before it gets to 100km/h.

Also a heads up to anyone that travels that route frequently to be careful.

Only $75 for me but hoping like hell that i didn't get anymore.

Doesn't surprise me, the amount of pingpingpingpings that do over 80km/h through the city is ridiculous, well overdue for most people imo.

Is it after Mill Point exit?

yeah that place is nuts for speeding... not surprised if a lot of 20km/h over tickets are sent out....

Funny thing as they will see it as everyone endangering lives, and not consider that maybe the speed limit is too low...

Like I said in another thread, if 8513 people were found to be speeding in just a few hours, that is a minimum of $638,475 generated from fines.

Go figure why the cameras are continually being setup there.

How many fatalities have occured there? None. The limit is too low.

+1

I can't understand why there isn't a full public outcry against this? People bitching and moaning about power bills etc, when the worst tax happens when you're driving to work!

It's the merging points around that area that make that part of the freeway 80kph.

People can't merge - easiest option rather than to educate people is to drop the speed limit.

Nah, that's a stupid reason, people would slow down regardless. Other areas of freeway with 100 kay limit still crawl due to merging, so no difference there. It's just annoying when you get pinged going thorugh that area in off peak times with no cars around you. Not exactly a danger spot, when you got 5 wide lanes to choose from and concrete guard rails instead of trees...

The section between Murray St and Riverside Drive is a dogs breakfast. 2 lanes entering onto 4 existing, with one merging (thus creating 5 lanes), then the 2 left lanes exiting only a few hundred meters up the road. Every bastard entering the freeway from Murray St is trying their hardest to get to the right-lanes so they don't end up going down Riverside Dr, which creates a massive bottleneck during the day.

If the limit was 100, and everyone coming thru was doing 100, then no-one would get the chance to merge, and with the average Perth driver having no sense of what to do in an "odd situation", the 2 lanes entering the freeway would become a carpark.

The only solution I can think of is to fix the problem a bit further up the road - when the freeways split at the tunnel entrance, 2 lanes go to the tunnel and 3 lanes continue south. These 3 lanes flow perfectly fine. A 4th lane is added to the traffic entering from Market St. With this 4th lane, if it is sectioned off from the rest of the lanes (cant change into it or out of it) until just past the Murray St Onramp, then you won't get stuck with the bottleneck as there would now be a dedicated lane for these people to continue down the freeway. Problem solved.

yeah i got a fine from same spot also, is it still applicable with the cameras they use nowdays that if there is another car in the photo you can challenge it?? im my portrait there is a car probably 2 lanes across pretty much in the same line.

Greedy pricks. They know that 99% of drivers will be watching the traffic and lanes etc and not looking at there speedo and if you creep over by 7kph bang your done! What do they expect us to do spend more time looking down at our speedos then the road

I'm waiting on a fine from that spot. Never been done by a speed camera but see what happens. Everyone was speeding around me at least 10 cars went through speeding at the same time.

It's the only part of the freeway I can test out my cornering capabilities.

the other spot i saw a copper with a hand-held on the other day was the start of the mitchell freeway leaving the city, it is still 80 almost up until leederville on ramp yet people are doing 100 as soon as they exit the city seem scops were cashing in on this spot too.
he was leaning over the concrete barrier on the side of the graham farmer on ramp onto the same bit of freeway.
so keep you eyes out there too

Fyfe defended the choice of location, saying it ticked all the boxes to be classified as a dangerous stretch of road.

seriously, is she on crack ?

Sounds like a typical pen pusher, not using her brain, just ticking boxes and shit. She is a retard! Female version of our mate rob johnson!

Because it takes more than a quick glance at the speedo to realise what speed you're doing, doesn't it?

It usually takes about second or two each glance. Times that by the necessity to have to keep checking it very often given the low tolerance margin of speed cameras, over the course of your journey that's a lot of time your eyes have spent looking away from the road.

Also, take into consideration the new speed cameras on the intersections. Nowadays I have noticed myself looking at my speedo while I am going across the lights, to make sure I do not get flashed. Before that out of habit I used to look whether by any chance there is a car coming from left or right about to run the red light and t bone me, which would give me a chance to react and avoid it, if possible. Now, not a chance, wouldn't know what hit me, since I have to be starting down at my speedo each time I cross the fkn lights. Retards! Road safety? bullshit! Does the opposite in my opinion!

But hey, at least fyfe and johnson will have some happy snaps of my accident, while it happened, yay!

correct, plenty of time to glance at speedo/maintain or correct speed & proceed thru intersection while keeping any eye out for red light runners.
if you cant do that there is something wrong with your driving, you shouldnt need to be fixated on the speedo that much.

the only thing thats wrong with the camera system is that the allowance for getting done is too small, it should be 10kays & over - only because the ADR's can allow up to 10% inaccuracy - although generally speedos are setup to overead a few kays anyway.

but then they would make no money....

no they would still make $$$ but if they increased fines for over 10kays to make up the difference they wouldnt lose any either.

Just saw the new speed camera out 5 minutes ago on Graham Farmer freeway just before the tunnel. The speed drops from 100 to 80 at that point. Was doing about 85 but didn't see it flash so might not have gotten done.

Theres ten times now more chance now of retards now slamming skids on instead of going through orange lights where the new Speed/Red light cameras are. seen it happen already and person behind having to lock up and near miss them because they thought they'd go through like a normal intersection.

people seem to forget that yeh sure you might be a safe and observational driver..doesnt been the africans, asians, etc in front of you are.

its one of the stupidest ideas ive ever heard of...

LAME.

we had a cruise through there, also didn't see a flash. not sure of speed tho..

wonder if they're not worrying about the "safety" thing and just going for blatant revenue raising now?

its hilarious how people complain about being fined for breaking the law in a spot where its been the same speed limit for years...

That area ticks all the boxes for being a dangerous stretch of road!
