Anyone notice a difference when you do engine rebuilds and body strengthening? I bought an '04 Ford GT and it said it needed a 45k motor rebuild. I swapped oil and took it out for skids, did fine. Did the engine rebuild, gained 40hp, acted exactly the same as it did before. Waste of 45k imo.

Also picked up a GNX for fuck all, and smashed all the Rally challenges. Still haven't got a fucking SS though!

After a rebuild the engine takes around 200km before they're properly run in and have max HP. You should notice the HP increasing every race you do. After a while the HP will start dropping again and that's when you need another rebuild.

From what i read on gtplanet, they says its better to do Race Mod 1st as it does lighten the car up

i think it's more than 200km... well for new cars/engines it is.

my gallardo has done over 350km, and still gaining power.

Just stay smooth and slow right up for the corners. Pretty much all of them are off-camber so you need to take it easy. The AI drivers are really slow for these apart from the first few cars, so as long as you go smooth and steady you'll at least get bronze. Off course on the banked turns you can push a bit harder and controlled slides if you have to.

Just for shits and giggles I thought I'd do it to my Suzuki Cappuccino (still needed to do the k-car cup)... Spent $100k+ on it, and it didn't even include engine mods! Only up to stage 2 weight reduction and a set of shocks, car still had 50hp and no LSD! Fucking rip off - good reason not to be playing when off ones head.

The blue/red bar is an indicator of how hard he is pushing. If the driver is in the red the whole time then he's likely to overshoot every corner. Pace down to calm him a bit until he's steady and then you can speed up and overtake when there's a chance.

Like the wind is a race in the second last group of races.

i just keep pushing mine until he starts to get very taily, then back him off a touch. he's level 5 now and can be pushed a fair bit more.

Yeah first time out I let him have a crack at the sunday cup in my 458... "comfort" tyres as per requirements, he just started cutting nuts on the first corner lol.
A race later on he was winning quite substantially in my 32R, then he got punted off the track onto the grass, and just stopped. pingpingpingping gave up and wouldn't keep driving, even though he was winning!

RWD cup was a joke! I gave my driver my decked out M3 and all he'd do is skids and go ass about. Fair enough, give him a dead stock Maserati and he does exactly the same thing. I tell him to slow down and he just doesn't, fishtails then dives into a wall.

its shit how you cant call the commands quickly you have to wait for each command to time out before you give him another one.

i want to tell him to slow down, slow down then if i see a gap tell him to overtake. not wait till the command time finishes then tell him to overtake and he spears off the corner.

im guessing they get better the higher level they are?

1) What car is best to use in the historics in the 2nd top tier. I think they have to be pre 1979. I have a bombed countach but it is just too slow.

2) In extreme (or whatever the last tier is) the 2nd last series needs a GT Formula car. Where does one go to buy / win this? It is not under Gran Turismo in the dealer section.

Like The Wind B-Spec gives a Toyota 7 race car that you can use. Or you can just use a modded up 512BB.

Don't need to pit in any of them.. I was finishing with more than half tyres left so if you have to pit you won't have any chance of winning as the AI don't pit. It's also the first hard A-Spec series I've done... 1 spin and you're likely to go to the back of the pack. Takes at least 5-6 laps to get to the front with perfect driving.

Yeah that's what I do. Once you get past lvl 25 it's easy because there's endurance races. You just leave it on whole day/night.

I've just golded all Loeb and the earlier Special rally challenges up to LVL20, got about 2.2Mn and feel like I'm at a point where I can't progress in the A spec unless I splash some decent coin on other cars. Just take a look at the typical competitor list before you start and pick a similar car. Toe to toe races is always more fun than picking a car 5 times faster anything else and lapping everyone within the first few laps. The level of cars in a series gradually increase until you face the race cars at the final races of the series. It's not just based on "expert" "advanced" etc. The AI is quite bad though so it's better if you choose a slightly slower car than the rest of the field, especially in twisty tracks as the AI overbrake a lot.

This! Quite a lot of cars sound pretty realistic as standard but turn to shit once you mod them

Only exception ive found so far is the Caterham, it sounds way too lame standard, putting a racing exhaust + other mods on makes it sound right :)

Hahahahaha man I noticed the same thing last night. Stock CV8 sounds exactly like an LS1 on start up, but then I did the decent exhaust, de-cat, extractors, intake and manifold, tune etc, took it out for a lap and it just sounds shocking. Tried putting each item back to stock to see if I could find a happy medium between sound and power and nope, just sounds rubbish. So then I built the motor and put a blower on it. Now it has over 700HP.

For shiggles I bought the $1200 hard comfort tyres and put them on the rear, lights up 3rd just rolling along, and will bag the top of 4th and leave the longest strips ever if you can keep it straight. Way better than my Mustang hahahah

I think b spec feels unfinished, and not being able to have more than 1 driver in a race sucks, the visuals are amazing, but my biggest gripe is having a fully customized gearbox, and putting up with the disgusting whine it makes, to only be able to change the final gear ration, with one and 2 you could change every gear, why take out a very useful option?

and by the way guys, I had a super skittery caterham, and it just kept lifting front or left wheels on acceleration and throwing the back out at anything more than 40 mph, kept fiddling with suspension, but souldnt get it to behave without oversteer, then fiddled with lsd, and the difference is amazing, so if your having massive oversteer problems, head to the lsd.

All stars is shitting me.. I think I'm going to have to race mod my ZR1. It's got just under 850BHP at the moment with stage 1 weight but the tyres fade after the first lap and I'm left getting clocked by the proper race cars by 29 seconds by the end of the race! I managed to snag a silver and a couple of golds but then couldn't better a 4th place in the last 2 races of the championship and ended up with a silver trophy overall, do not want.

I'm hoping there is some awesome prize for gold placing this championship - or do I only get the prize if I gold every race IN the championship AND then take the gold place overall??

That is some bitter sweet news you just gave me, as I was still 1st in the champ after my 4th placing in race 4, and was leading race 5 but then the tyres just gave way and I slipped.

I have noticed though, in both that championship and another race I was doing (Some Euro/German cup) that by lap 3 the cars behind you start to really haul ass.. I had about 7 seconds on a BMW in my C63 and at the end of lap 4 he was on my bumper.. He made up 7 seconds in half a lap and continued to try and pass me so I went into defence driving FTW. If the whole expert series is like that I will kick my PS3's ass in the head.

Dumped a truckload of money into it to try make it competitive, was aiming at the Tuning Championship in Expert and a few others against actual race cars and figured it needed it. It just blows the doors off of everything! Start middle of the pack, end of first corner I'll have a few second lead haha. Earns cash piece of piss, but the damn thing wont do a skid in 4th :( It's only a standard car so cant be race modded, but would it suffice for this "like the wind" race?

On another note I dropped 150k into my GNX and it's still shit. Dream ruiner.

Fiat 500 race was easy as. Granted, I did a bit of weight reduction and tuning (spending $50k to earn $250k + bulkload os experience?? Yes please), but was piece of cake. Same for the CR-Z race. Easy as. Yes, I was using skid recovery (I forget to turn it off and can't be bothered waiting for the menus to load again). No traction control (cars aren't powerful enough to warrant it). Can gift car to you for a try if you want? Save you spending up on yours??

Had a massive FFFFUUUUUU moment last night.

I've been sitting around the 250-350k mark with my credits (I've not done enough of the Special Events to earn huge credits), but this disappears pretty quickly once I start buying and modding cars as you can imagine.

So I found a RUF CTR2 in the dealership. AWESOME. 200k later I owned it... Then I had to buy the GTR 07 for the Seasonal Race. Left me with about 50k in credits.. and it needed suspension, weight reduction and aero mods ($$$$).

I'd already stripped my garage back as far as I could go without getting rid of cars I needed for the one-make B Spec races, as well as the cars I absolutely wanted to keep.. so I had no choice but to sell the RUF only 30 mins after I bought it.. for 89k :(

THEN, I realised I probably could have done the same thing buying a stock Spec-V @ 155k credits instead of buying a 77k GTR and spending 70k on mods (although the modded GTR is arguably quicker than a bog stock Spec-V). FFUUUUUUUUU. Not farkin happy, but I’m sure I’ll eventually find another RUF CTR2.. mine was getting a little tired too by the looks of the power dropping off after I drove it a few times, and 89k for an engine rebuild isn’t fuckin cheap.

I hate losing credits on stupid deals and making purchase mistakes like that, but once I collect my $1m in credits in the Seasonal Events, I can buy as many RUF’s as I want :P

I wish I had some, cue my epic rage meter.. I tried the tarmac one about 15 times then out of the blue absolutely smashed a gold in, way inside the cut off, but I thought the lap was about as good as any other? The dirt makes me rage, snow is a bit easier, but again I just had to plod around the track very slowly to learn the corners before I could link the whole lot together. Eventually I got gold straight up in all of them, no silver or bronze first.

For dirt I think I had the TC off because even on 1-3 if you hit a corner with semi-low RPM it just cuts the power back to idle and you need to drive off from a standing start. I lost lots of time this way. I've had luck with ABS on 10, the other thing to do is just feather the throttle, treat it like a progressive pedal and not a switch

BOMBED! Haha after I decked out my GNX to the tune of 150k and realised it couldn't do skids this morning I just shut down the PS3 from in practice mode. None of the mods saved! Started it up jsut before, GNX is stock and I have my cash again haha! Now I have a way to test cars before I commit them to the garage. Wish I'd done it with my Evo X, fucking slow POS that it is.

Just did the Fiat 500 seasonal. 2nd first time out, 3 secs off the leader. Used my 34 GTR for the last one, came 7th. I was driving like a tool though. May just be better off getting a 35 like Joe suggested.

Monaro fogs hard with built motor and Whipple!!!!!!! Over 700HP and counting. I haven't done suspension mods or anything yet, just for lulz.

I bought some hard comfort tyres just to use on the rear.. 1/3 throttle in 3rd gear (taking off in 3rd) lights them up from cold and then short shift to 4th for a huge power skid!

drift tracks = bakes the tyres in all 6 gears. i swear i spent over an hour last night just doing burnouts on the top gear test track.

im surprised theres so many people on here with hardly any money. i rarely go below 1.5, but i only have probably 4 or 5 fully worked cars in my garage, the rest are either stock or just lightly modified. most of the races i try to win by racing properly rather then having a 300hp advantage, save a bit of money that way too. have yet to race a single race twice. i have sold a few shitty concept cars though, they always seem to be worth a fuckload.

You need to go hard on the hairpins. Don't be scared to smash it and oversteer a little. The rest of the course is simple so that's the only section that time can be made. All aids off except ABS.

I've done the same to both of them. Some weight reduction (to just above the limit), power increases of ~5hp to equal the limit, then gearbox, clutch, flywheel & race suspension (gearbox & suspension, neither are fully customisable). I've then proceeded to piss it in. 1st time in the Fiat I got 2nd. 2nd time was just a bit more agressive and won by 5 seconds. CR-Z race I was in 1st by the start of the final lap.

Turn TC off for these lower power cars. You will be robbed if you leave it on.

Like I said, spend ~$70k, win $250k & a bunch of experience points. Win for me.

I assumed that once these seasonal events finish, more will pop up??
