Might be a long shot but anyone related to a dentist in here?
Reason I ask is I had an adult tooth removed a couple of years ago and now I have a new tooth coming through. Quite a wtf moment and was wondering is this common? It doesnt appear to be part of the tooth left behind from the extraction, it actually looks like a complete tooth coming through..its at the top right at the back if it makes any difference.
Cheers.

No idea its coming through right where the removed tooth was haha. Do your wisdom tooth normally come through both sides at the same time?

You don't necessarily get all 4 wisdom teeth.
I hit the quad jackpot, my wife got none.
I'd be pretty happy to have an original tooth move back in after an adult extraction. Especially given how much an implant costs!
But definitely worth getting an x ray to see if the others are gonna give you some snaggletooth.

I'll be a qualified dentist in a month's time.
Could be another tooth but if that's the case it should have been visible on the preop x-ray, and you should have been advised this before the extraction. I doubt this is the case.
May be a loose bone fragment working its way out of the healing socket - these are rather common as the body heals.
I can only be sure if I had the opportunity to examine you and check your records.
If it doesn't hurt particularly badly, leave it be and see how things go.
edit: just read that it was removed a few years ago. makes things interesting... you can ignore everything mentioned above :P

It's possible, I had all 4 wisdom teeth coming through at the same time.
My father in law is a dentist but he's in Sydney so that doesn't help very much.
Go to a dentist and get an x-ray done. It's the best way to determine if it's a wisdom tooth that needs attention. You don't want to leave them too late trust me, it hurts like fuck.

X-Ray dude...
Mum still has one tooth hiding in her jaw to replace a baby tooth she has yet to lose...and she is 39! And her wisdom teeth have never come out, where as all 4 of mine are on their way.
Everyone is different - X-Ray and be done with it. :)

Administering them was not the best. "I'm just going to use this syringe on your gum, it will feel like a mosquito bight".
A mosquito 100 times bigger maybe....
