yeh i saw that for sale i got offered a swap for my 32, but theres no way im letting my 32 go for 5k, plus abit sus on the fact its back up for sale again. whats your patrol got ? got offered a 4.2td GQ but not massively keen on GQs.

you got offered a 4.2td gq for under 6k and turned it down?
dude seriously if i knew where you lived you'd get a visit from the men in the white suits
jump on that shit, i wish those kinda cars came up before i bought my petrol
but if your not already on there try the perth 4x4 forums and the patrolwa forums, also always bargains popping up on gumtree

I got a commo v6 surf too I'd prob sell. Duel fuel lifted muddies. Bit tatty here and there but it's a 4wd. Being truthful the auto slips a bit in boggy sand but fine on the street an hard ground. Nothin a $200 auto from the quokka can't fix . Oh and this is Lic with the v6

What else would TD mean?
DanWA
26-11-2010, 11:11 PM
In the GQ the TD42 is N/A Diesel and TB42 is the N/A Petrol
People commonly say it 4.2TD tho... but really they weren't around until the GU

also a shitload of td42 gqs' with aftermarket kits on them, they love a bit of boost and provided it's done properly don't have reliability issues but none of them were factory

Yeh 2.8 Turbo Diesel
Don't bother with a 2.8 as they are crap. Gutless is an understatement!!

nissan 4.2tds arent much chop either & isnt unheard of for a rd28 to be on par or quicker in a straight line...
id bother/have bothered with an rd28 as if power is your thing an rb conversion is relatively easy..
if budget is only 5-6k id go a commo converted surf/4runner/hilux, have had 2 they go very well, just ensure you piss the thermos off and do a clutch fan conversion as they never stay cool...

My hilux never gets hot witha single 16 inch thermo, even in the sand

ive heard that heating can be a problem.. i thought thermos would have been the best way to go ? thought clutch fans didnt really cut it ?
xibitor ive had 2 x v6 converted hiluxs and both did it, wait for over 30 deg day and go offroad, better still try it with a/c on also...
no matter what thermos you run they will always get hot, do your homework as to how even the best thermos compare to a clutch fan, not on same page...
theyre's clutch fan conversion kits out for them for a reason..:)

yer havent tried with the aircon on i suppose
my burnout car still manages 4~ minutes before it gets warm aswell
what i'm getting at is v6's are pretty good for heat
Drift_R32
28-11-2010, 04:56 PM
having them in 4x4 is always going to put them under more load/stress which is going to cause heat, and having the a/c on in general will heat up your car..
i dont understand why people convert from clutch fans to thermos on high powered cars then ?
i have a mate wanting to sell his tb42 maverick/patrol, 4'' lift done properly 35'' bfg muds roof rack on gas manual disconnects caster adjustment pretty sure it has an auto locker rear but dont quote me on that throw a locker in the front and you'll have a weapon
