So I'm deciding to get either one, but stuck on which one to buy. Be just a fun daily project car on the side. Opinions??

Both are good cars that can handle heaps of power and weigh a fuck load take both for a test drive and find out what you like best.

Buy Stagea
R34/R35 front end conversion
?????
Mad wagon?
Aristo can look awesome with subtle mods... not sure about 92's but would assume headlights would be yellowing pretty bad!

Yellow headlights are easy to fix.

From what I understand there are only limited mods you can do to an auto Stagea before the gearbox starts struggling. Cooler and Exhaust and a little boost is about as much as you can do (someone with a Stagea may want to confirm that). Finding a manual one will involve more outlay, but will be well worth it. Also try to hunt down a series 2, they have nicer features (twin sunroofs, etc) and a 25 Neo.
Aristos are a huge, heavy, thirsty car, but have more pro's than cons IMO. I would prefer a Chaser over an aristo personally.
You're looking at two very different cars though. You should decide whether you want the practicality of a wagon or not, because as far as wagons go, you can also look at Mitsubishi Legnums, or Toyota Caldinas (if you can get past the looks). Even Subaru Forrester GT's go alright.

where did you hear all that from?
my ex's stagea had a highflow, cooler, exhaust, safc, etc... which all came off my 33 making over 300hp, and the auto loved it.
also my 33 4 pots bolted straight on.
you will pay a premium for a manual, however you an do the conversion with a GTR box as well.
personal preference on S1/S2 as well... i reckon the S1 looks better, there isnt much difference trim wise, there was many variants in both models.
i wouldn't be buying a legnum as a project car... i had one of them too, the rods are pretty fragile, there is fuck all mods available because all the owners in australia are pansys, and they can be a pingpingpingping to work on.
the auto boxes also like to spit out the torque converter seal. (i've removed legnum boxes 4 times now, it's a solid 10+ hour job)
exhaust and boost is about all you can do before they start costing decent dollars...

From what I remember, it was fairly quick for what was done to it.
Aristo's and Stagea's are two very different cars. It comes down to what you really need from it.

Mitch, one of my good mates had a S2 Stagea for a long while, from memory he was planning to chase 400-odd with it, but gearbox was going to be the limitation for him. That was about three years ago now, so was only saying that as a "from what I understand" point of view..

400 odd is pushing it in terms of box reliability without a shift kit. It would flare on shifts like there's no tomorrow.

Nah you're wrong. Stagea couldn't even fit one statue of david inside, let alone two. Totally useless.

I own an s1 Stagea Dayz, and the missus loves it!
Like all RB's responds to mods well as mentioned.
We needed the room for the kids, but wanted an import.
checked out 7 seaters like the EL Grand and delicas,
and for the price the S1 Stagea couldn't be beat.
the only downside is EVERYONE thinks it's a volvo, or an outback.
check out SAU for forum knowledge. :)
pics of my S1 [meisters] with some other SAU folks and their S2's.
huge cruise that day. lol

aristo is a toyota dude.
it will run forever, never need servicing, and will outrun a pantera.

Aristo's are way too common these days and are a pingpingpingping of a thing to sell. I have always had a soft spot for Stageas, they have the potential to look fucking awesome.

Buyers market these days with imports, if you look around hard enough Aristos can be had for under 7k in most cases.
Definite worthy car for what you get in the price.
