Slightly off topic but as good a place to post as any. Been thinking about getting a bag to hit, mostly just stress relief and a bit of fun, nothing serious. I don't want to fuck up my hands though so what can you guys recommend? Some training gloves or something? To put it into perspective I'd probably end up out there every day hitting it.

Just get a decent pair of mitts dude, should be fine!
You can if you want to, but if you hit the bag with out and out gloves, the leather on the gloves will end up splitting over time.

He's saying if you hit a bag with real gloves all the time the gloves will end up splitting. I haven't done any boxing since I was in high school and I still have pretty messed up hands from that, stupid after school activities.

Use hand wraps and bag gloves and you'll be fine.

Good gloves won't split but the the skin on your knuckles will! Always, always, always use wraps or bag gloves. Apart from looking like a terry tuffkunt, by not using them you open yourself up to so many problems in your hands, wrists, knuckles etc. Your hands are full of small fragile bones so protect them!

cost about $200, can have for $50
I got my gloves from Rebel Sports, went into 3 different stores to find a pair of womens small gloves cost me $60 but well worth it. No splitting yet.
