big end?
oh wait it's not a dak dak :)
the main/constant clicking sound is the lifters - upgrade to these to fix that-

(cams dont need to come out to do this either)
the irregular loud clicks sound unusual but could be a really bad lifter as well

Id say lifters... There is a bleeding process for misterbushy hydraulic lifters, I did it on my legume.
I'll have a look when I get home!

The old rattly tappets, common on all 4G engines.
Constant oil changes and flushes are the key but it'll never go away it'll keep coming back overtime.
not if you fit the meek lifters ;)

Chris Meek still getting round, fitted those into my old VR4 motor back in the day and bam noisey tappets were a thing of the past.
okay it's lifters. There are 3 solutions to this issue I've used all 3.
run shell helix 15w50 this will help as its the best cleaning oil I was able to find on the market (I tried a lot of oils) 15w50 is what my tomei engine manual said to run and it never let me down.
To clear out your blockage you can tip 1 liter of kero into the oil when running let idle for 15 mins this should stop the ticking, you then need to dump the oil and refil with diesel oil and drive gently for 100k's dump oil and switch to the shell.
Thats a lot of fucking about and will only help your lifters from blocking for a while.
Best solution is buy new gen3 lifters with the big oil holes. cost me about $200 you can replace the lifters by taking off the rocker cover and poping the rockers off with a big screw driver. takes about an hour all up and then its fixed.
drop me an email or msn zeronemisis@hotmail.com if you have any questions.
