Are we taking bets on Franz for a 3 from 3? :)
FranZ
27-12-2010, 02:38 PM
Certainly not. Im not that confident!
I still need a new front pipe after destroying mine at the last rallysprint!

Just very modest Franz

Hey Franz, To save me trawling through Cams regs.
Can you give us a quick run down of the safety requirements ?
Cage / harness / battery triangle / helmet / suit / etc ?
Also tyres allowed ?
FranZ
28-12-2010, 12:04 AM
Nah Mikey, I was nowhere near as dominant over the field in the Targa West Prologue direction as I was in the reverse direction. There are a few people that are right on my exhaust pipe!
No worries Simon.
Needs: Battery triangle, 2 safety triangles, 2kg of fire extinguisher (x2 1kg ok), working lights, general safety for a CAMS sprint (ie working brakes, seat belts ok, no oil leaks, secure battery, long sleeves, helmet, closed in shoes and Level 2 Speed License. You need a c0-driver/ballast as it is classed as a rallysprint. Tyres - must have legal tread and be road legal. Ie no slicks.
I think thats close to it; anybody else please add to the list in case I have missed something obvious.

Sweet, thanks franz !!
Seems pretty straight forward.
Are "R comps" considered road legal ?
FranZ
28-12-2010, 12:38 AM
Definitely! :)

28-12-2010, 12:48 AM
Sorry one last thing.
Do they run multipliers on turbo cars for the litre class's.
IE 2 litre turbo is actually classed at 3 litres ?
FranZ
28-12-2010, 11:16 AM
Yep. Notice that Its smaller than or larger than 3500cc - meaning anything bigger than a 2.1 with a turbo goes into 3500cc+. It keeps non stroked Evo's and 2l wrx's in a different class as the GTR's!

I'm thinking that is to save hurting the feelings of the old and heavy GT-R's when they get caned around the tight twisty bits:(

Just a quick one, what size catch can is required? 1.3L motor.
couldnt find anything in the sup regs or the standing regs.
also, you said seat belts OK, does that mean I can run a standard lap sash? Have a harness, but it may be out of date
FranZ

Catch can required? News to me!
Yeah, lap sash is ok!

Not in this time around. Wanted new disc's before I went out again.
Mine were glowing last time.

Huh? rotors glow when they get hot! Was there a vibration under brakes?

Have a harness, but it may be out of date
FYI Cams doubled the life of all safety belts last year.
AASA just inspect them.
I find very rarely do they check the date on them. Just look at them and as long as they are not nicked etc you are good to go.

Will be there tomorrow night to have a look. Plan is to get car down there for the final event in February, assuming the lumps and bumps in the course (snakepit entry/exit) are not too nasty. Pretty sure the 40 won't like hitting them at any sort of speed.
How much is spectator entry?
DISTRBD

FREEEEEEEEEE
Will be taking the Evo for a hack but keeping well clear of kopper logs, kerbs, walls and sea containers. Need to be able to drive home at the end of the night.
pink dress. yeah WOW!! that is all.
1st time ive been down to this type of event and had a great time. very relaxed environment, everyone there for a good time rather than playing for sheep stations.

It was a good event to spectate at. Some cars coming really close to the wall on the last corner. Gotta love Motorkhana :)

Great afternoon. MGR i recognised your car from your avatar. Howd your runs go? Got a few nice pics of ya beast. Also anyone know the poor fella in the white rex that slid into the wall at the end of the strip?

Enjoyable night again despite a "senior moment" on the first run (overshot the turn off from the main strip lol). Still getting used to the replacement OS gearset, but was happy to sneak a 2:29 on the last run.
Congrats Franz - didn't get chance to say g'day last night unfortunately.

Is that barrier near the finish line concrete?
Bit harsh for the RWD if the back steps out a bit...
looks great.
I think i'm going to enter the next one in Feb to have some fun. Do they have a cut off for the amount of vehicles entered? Or is it fairly easy to get a spot on the night?

Runs went good - as in we didn't hit anything and finished second overall. Stoopid Franz. Maybe he'll let me borrow Steph as a co-driver and he can have my fat old man as ballast ha ha!
I think the white rex that hit the wall was Tolly Challis.

Tolly was sharing the car with Neil Herbert as it was Neil's car and he crashed not Tolly
