View Full Version : jap wheels on a commo
Background:
-looking into a VB-VC commo wagon as a daily hack
-have SSR Viennas in my garage which i want to hold on to, nissan 5 and 4 stud multi-fit.
For lols im thinking it would look rad on ultralow /ghetto-cut springs and sporting significant camber (insert mismatched panel VW with roof racks image here).
Question:
-how the fuck do i make them fit?
Not keen on drilling more holes in the rims, so thinking a holden PCD to 5 x 114.3 PCD converter/spacer would be the easiest way. Seach of internets has not been helpful.
Would Wilkinson / WA Sus / engineer be able to knock something up to suit or have it on the shelf?
k thx

Slam it on the deck, put some American style roof-racks on it, and it would look fucking sweet.
For the more technical side, errr good luck? I imagine considering the offset of the Vienna's getting some type of multistud spacer would make them ultra-Meixcan, considering Holden guards are quite shallow.
i spose if it came down to it i could do a hub swap, but thats getting towards the 'too hard' basket
is it wrong that i like the sound of it being 'ultra' mexican?

Take the hub off. Smash out the studs weld over holes put on a laithe machine them flat redrill to 5x114.3?
Or maybe start from scratch and machine up own hub?

find some wobble bolts brah, or get the spacers made up... or dont be a hebrew and buy a decent car for once haha
wobble bolts iirc will only allow +/-2mm in PCD difference?
buy a ford

For what it's worth, Commodore Offset is around +43 to +47, depending on the suspension setup (IRS, live axle, etc). 95% are +43 (VB-VZ).
Pretty sure that VB-VL are +43.
Edit: Corrected myself.

get some 5x120 to 5x114.3 bolt on spacers made up, as thin as possible. could get away with 15mm easily i would say, maybe 10mm if you get some eye drive nuts machined up too.

The only issue there would be the length of the stud on the factory hub; even with thin bolt-ons, the original studs will still hit the wheel.
There is a guy on Street Commodores, buggered if I can remember who or what car it was, that went to the trouble to do exactly as someone else here said - bashed out the old studs, welded up the holes and drilled out new holes to create a 5x114.3 PCD on the factory hub.

you either use rims with recesses in them, or cut the studs.

yeah, cutting the studs is the obvious solution

Buy undrilled discs and have them studded to what you want
Weld up axles and restud to desired
Don't weld up fronts... cast iron... and hard to drill thru
