LS1 water pump shat today, absolutely pissing out coolant. Unsure if gasket or something else.. what's the usual way these things pop?

Need her running again tonight, got 2.5hrs to do the job once I take into account travel time to get parts....

cheers
sam

Pretty sure the leaking is a sign. Mine started leaking a while back then stopped. Been ok now for a while so i have left it

I know it's a sign of something, I was more asking do they shit gaskets or the internal pump seals..

found some shit about the weep hole on the internets but duno where to look??

any tips on getting a replacement pump? if I can get one for a reasonable price (i hear genuine are bullshit expensive?) I may just grab one.

going to rip this one apart now and see if it tells a story.

personally can't say. never had one break. they do obviously run gaskets either side of the pump.

its normally the seal on the pump shaft, you really cant see the hole coz the pulley so fuckn big. Piece of piss to replace.

my mates went the other week, no one in perth had the pump so he had to get a 6ltr one and adaptor, bearing shat its self and put a hole in his though

yeah i hear genuine ones are exxy? not expecting this one to last forever, I needed a rapid solution though so it did the trick.

survived the dyno to the tune of 326rwhp :) so I'm certainly not complaining, and will get me to sydney so it'll do :p
