View Full Version : Ticking noise from wheel

Been noticing a ticking sound coming from my back left wheel lately, I initially thought it might be something stuck in the tread of the tyres, but after changing wheels it retained.

My first and only guess so far is that maybe my wheel bearing is stuffed, is there anyway to verify this without having to go to pull apart everything?

Not something caught on your drive shaft, like someone put a ziptie on it or something, knowing your mates and all :P

Checking a rear wheel bearing is a bit of a slurry compared to a front one, best bet is running the car on a hoist and obtain where the noise is coming from precisely before condemning the wheel bearing :)

could be the flap of the brake pad clipping something?

I have had that found it to be the plastic centre cap

I had it once, thought something was broken.
Turned out it was some electrical tape stuck on the wheel slapping the wheel arch.
True story.

don't you mean it could be the whole caliper clipping something, like the wheel?

split pin at the end of your driveshaft tapping on the wheel ? normally you cant hear it with centre caps fitted.
