Anyone here modified one? I am looking to do cam tune otr and zorst. Any shops that come recommended? Fuel consumption is not really an issue as it isn't a daily. Any info or examples would be appreciated

I have had my cars tuned by Mitch and never had an issue. Haven't had a cam etc done but countless mates have and none have faulted them.

before someone can recommend what size cam, exhaust, etc....what do you want to achieve out of the car?
Mitch and any other decent workshop will ask the same.

The last clutch I recommended to someone was a single plate Tex Z for a tune only VE.......
I know Ryan, and I know how often the car will be driven, therefore how hard I assume the car will be driven. Twin plate for longevity, plus the NPC twin still performs well as a street clutch. Lewis can attest to that, as he had one in his ~530rwhp 7L M6 Clubsport.
Not everyone puts a cam in a VE to just mozey around town in.

Car has only just done 3000km in about 5-6 months so it wants to be driven hard. Dan it doesn't do skids it's a poor mans car I didn't get skids as an optional extra when I bought it couldn't afford it

Your clutch will be fine for now Ryan, no point spending money on any of that shit when the car has done 3000km. Just go see John, get a OTR and exhaust and let the master play with the tune for a day. That will keep you happy for at least a few months....

Ryan, nothing fucks a mate off more than seeking advice from them and then asking a bunch of randoms the same question.

Then TVS2300 blower.
I mentioned the clutch would last 5-10,000km before packing itself in, and if he wanted to take care of it all at once then he might want to think about it and sell his stock clutch.

was having yarns with mike kennedy at city hsv, and he pretty much said APC do all his work, recommended them and to stay away from walkinshaw as theyre overpriced and pretty shit.

EXCESSV had some work done at APC, I have not dealt with them directly but from what I've been told they are much like Walkinshaw - over priced and the workmanship is not up to par.
As I stated above, see one of the shops listed. If you take your car to a professional that is the result you should expect. A lot of shops jumped on the LSx bandwagon to make quick money, everyone is a tuner etc.

+1 for SQP. John's the most brutally honest bloke around, which is good.
-1 for APC.

If you are handy with a spanner and want to save yourself a bucketload, buy the parts from the US, install them yourself (pleanty of guides online) and get Steve at Oztrack to tune it remotely.

was having yarns with mike kennedy at city hsv, and he pretty much said APC do all his work, recommended them and to stay away from walkinshaw as theyre overpriced and pretty shit.APC are good. Mike Kennedy has alot of work done with them on his VY racecar
i had my full exhaust done with them back when the VE was pretty much just released. they were building them custom on the car. pretty much fuck all drone even with cam in 6th gear on the fwy and i love the sound of my exhaust and alot of people comment on how it sounds as its not the normal V8 sound. its got a sort of raspy race car ish sound...hard to describe
they are pricey when compared to Xforce and other brands but the sound and build quality shows where the extra money goes. they are busy alot of the time so expect delays even when your car is in getting the work done it will take longer than they say.
Jim is a perfectionist and when they redid new tips for me although i was OK with the fitment he said nope redo them again as they were a couple mm out on one side.
if i had my time again or if i go down the stroker path i would use Jim (owner of APC) to do my exhaust again....but this time i would drop the ridiculous coin he wants for there custom extractors that are stepped and extended for greater torque and airflow. they did alot of research and testing for the VE on these.
as for anything but exhausts i dont know with APC as i never did anything else since they were from the early days an performance exhaust shop and i had my tuner to do the tuning etc.

Call the metioned 3 shops and have a talk to the people and maybe tee up a ride or listen to some of the differant combos you are thinking about. Knowlege is power and the more you know the harder it will be for someone to fuck you over.
And for me its WA Performance
Best work and customer service around IMO

Some of the best advice you will get. The harder it will also be to fuck yourself over. Also don't take forums as gospel, too much bullshit to sift through, the shops will have cars that do their talking for them.

If I fit chev badges all over my car won't that have the same affect on performance as a cam and tune?
Tre-Cool

Of course. Guarenteed 10rwhp per badge, even more if you have a v6.
i thought that was common knowledge by now?

as mentioned before, whats your budget? what do you want out of the car? and what do you honestly use the car for???
this will all influence anyone that gives good advice.
these engines are awesome and with OTR and full exhuast and good tune go 280-300rwkw with pretty good fuel economy and are not a pig to drive.... that's a lot of power. if your insistant on doing the cam though, id be speaking to mitch about apllication vs. peak power and as metioned by others he'll be honest about it.
let us know what you end up choosing to do. but as for shops WA PERFORMANCE. or APC, sean really knows his stuff aswell.

Sorry to interupt here, and ill state im not big into teh LS scene
But,
How the hell does Oztrack tune a car remotley, i understand send your ecu away or put a flasher on it or something like that. But if you use a series of different parts, a different grind cam, different conditions, different brand intake and or exhuast the tune would have to change. People are happy enough to plug in and thrash away?

he basically connects in over the internet through a program like teamviewer and sets up all the pids (data) to be monitored/logged and then gets you to drive around or do dyno runs.
uses the data from there to adjust your tune. basically no different to what your normal tuner does really.

only places id use and reccomend are wa performance and street quick as others have said. Dont get suckered in with flashy workshop cars as i did when i first started modding my ute, i got fucked over big time. If u want more details on shops and what to do shoot me a pm. I wish i sought more advice when i first got my ute but owell was a good lesson.

No surprise there, same software I use for remote control of client server/workstations.
I guess its not that difficult to do tuning that way, provided you can get the driver to do what you want with the throttle etc

As Tre-Cool said. I plug the laptop in to the car and use the Wireless USB stick and drive around and do what he says over loudspeaker on my phone.
Once the initial tune is completed and satisfactory i do a series of logging data in different situations and email them to Steve. He sends me back new tunes to load into my car. I then tell him what I like and dont like and more changes are made until it is perfect.
He did an outstanding job.
