unfortunately subscribing to the church of offset and fitment has led me to believe that tyre stretch is my only rubber friend

as a result of the aforementioned brainwashing ive got no idea what the appropriate width of a semi-slick tyre is in order to go fast around a race track

Ive got some 17x8 and 17x9 desmond regamasters and want to know what width tyres are most appropriate for circuit racing purposes. I have crapola 215 and 255s on them atm.

aaaand go

235/255 is about your best bet for those rims with circuit in mind.

is the theory to go as wide as you can?

or will extra sidwall flex mellow my grip level?

As a guide:
235 for 8"
255 for 9"

Can vary slightly between different tyre manufacturers. (eg a Bridgestone RE55S is slightly wider than a Toyo R888). Check with the tyre manufacturer's recommendations as to suitable rim width.

This "extra" sidewall flex you speak of will be almost non exsistant. R-comp have much stiffer sidewalls than street rubber, at lower pressures as well.

price wise, the sweet spot is 235's on a 17" rim
