Hey guys
Just wanting to know for the weekend, is there a way to identify through a stagea's vin number/ compliance plate whether or not the car came as a factory manual or not?
Cheers

If there is an 'N', it is an Auto. No 'N' if it's a factory manual.
All Factory manuals are rwd and are Series 2 (1998 onwards) which is another tell-tail sign.

just saw this... the above post isn't 100% correct.
the N is actually AWD.
WGNC34 = RB25DE/T + AWD
WGC34 = RB25DE/T + RWD
WHC34 = RB20DE powerrrr
RS Four S is factory manual, with gauges above the air con, different interior, different wheels and also has a rear LSD (still AWD though).
the RS4-S is only S2 as well, there were no manual S1's from the factory.
Also, check below the mirrors, and around the front strut tops for rust.

Whoops, the last line of my post was supposed to be in conjunction with the 'N' part haha. Essentially, if it has an N its AWD and shouldn't be a manual!
I also have rust around my wing mirrors :(

huh? there are only 2 variants that came manual, AWD turbo series 2, and the 260RS.
most of them do it. :( my ex's had rust under the mirrors even after the whole car was resprayed.
