Confused with which of the old school monaro coupes would be the better buy and why?
Look for the GTS models or not?

Never paid attention to the history of each.

HK gts all the way!

In dark metallic blue with the 327 and manual - yummy.

Probably the HG 350 would be more collectable though.

stumps.

If you wanted a newer one the HQ is the next best shape.

depends on ya budget, the HG - HK etc are the more collectable/desirable at the moment, HQ/Z/X aren't as valueable yet.

also, the GTS HG or HK ( can't remember which ) also came with a 186 6 cylinder so check numbers when looking.

HJ, the cheapest and rarest. There was fewer than any other model built, invest for the future.

Bzzt

Only raced versions HK-G were HK327 and HT350....HG was never raced...hence the HGGTS and all the way to HQ and on only got 220-240Hp smog engines. HT 350 was 300Hp HC.

My pick would be a HK327 in blue.....but I own a HT with a 3fiddy(used to be a 186s ..paid $800 for it when I was 16 !)

Mine will eventually end up 4 link rear, full chassis, jag front end and brake and LS7 !! love to cut the floor pan totally out of the car and start again but were do you stop ! I drove it around for 10 years(1st car) and fuck it was a death trap with ~380hp 350chev 9 inch on clamped leaf springs and HQ brakes....world of there own in terms of chassis and supension tech !

Fuck yeah !

HK is the most collectable at the moment which also means its the most expensive. The reason is they have the best racing history and that is what makes collectability.

IMO they are the best looking also.

Warwick Yellow HK GTS 327 4spd.

Can't go wrong.

Prepare to pay upwards of $100,000 for an excellent example.

Finding a modified HG would be far more worth it if you want to drive/enjoy/thrash it.

I would kill for a HK-HT-HG GTS, or HQ Coupe. Or even a HQ SS.

Love all the monaros really.

Pretty sure there was an old Monaro for sale near Rick Hart and Good Guys in Joondalup the last couple weeks, about $50k I think - white with black stripes from memory. Looked like a HQ.

I think there is a HG GTS? at Briffa at the moment being restored and worked on, didn't realise how big these cars actually are inside til I saw that one in the flesh.

Either way I don't think you can go wrong. :D

Big block HK-T-G, Nice tidy body, restored interior, period rims etc.

Or...

HQ done in Yank pro touring (I think they call it that) style, big cubes, some forced induction, BIG power dumped over farking huge tyres etc etc etc....

Either one = win win.

The one near Rick Hart Joondalup is not worth what he's asking and it's not a hq it's a hz from memory.
